The day of the date finally came. Killian went over to David's house to get ready while Emma and Elsa went dress shopping. She picked out a simple gold dress and put her golden curls into a bun on top of her head. She had also bought matching shoes and a bracelet. Ruby did her makeup and Mary Margaret did her hair. Will and Victor went ice skating so they wouldn't be in the way. Once the doorbell rang, Emma was suddenly aware of how nervous she was. She bounced down the steps and stood in front of the door with her hand on the doorknob. She heard Liam and Elsa behind her, waiting for her to open the front door. When she did, Killian had a stunned look on his face. He smiled at her and almost dropped the white rose that was in his hand.

"You look stunning, Swan," he told her, still running his eyes up and down her body.

She blushed. "You don't look too bad yourself."

He handed her the rose and Emma gave it to Elsa, who rushed into the kitchen to put it in water. She came back out a moment later, confused that the rose was fake. Killian gave her a look so she wouldn't say anything about it. Emma was too happy, excited, and nervous to notice that the rose wasn't real. Emma looked back at Liam and saw that he held a camera in his hands. Killian groaned.

"Brother, don't."

"Killian, cmon. Let me get your picture and then you both can leave." Killian sighed but stepped into the house and wrapped his arm around Emma. Liam snapped the picture and then Killian practically dragged Emma out of the house and into his car.

Once they got to the restaurant and they were seated, Killian smirked at her. She blushed and smiled. "What?" She asked innocently.

He shook his head. "It's nothing, love."

She grabbed his hands from across the table and squeezed them. "You know you can tell me anything."

"You are just so beautiful," he stated.

The smile on her face disappeared and he looked over his shoulder to see Zelena walking into the restaurant with a guy next to her. He looked back at Emma and grabbed one of her hands again, and brought it to his lips. He kissed it and that was enough to get her out of her trance.

"Zelena is here with Neal," Emma said, still staring at the guy.

"Who?" Killian asked, completely confused. Realization came over him and he gasped. "Your ex that broke your heart?"

She nodded. "I don't want him to see me."

"So what if he does? Let him know you are with a guy who is mature."

She squinted her eyes at him. "Who said you were mature?"

"Oh hush." He kicked her gently and playfully under the table, and was happy to see the smile on her face as she kicked him back.

The sound of glass breaking caught everyone's attention and everyone looked for the source of the sound. Neal stood in shock as he stared at Emma. She found Killian's hand under the table and squeezed it tightly. Zelena had an equal surprised face on. Life began to jump back into the restaurant as talking and laughter filled the room.

"We can leave if you'd like," Killian said.

Emma nodded and put her cloth napkin down on the table. "I'm sorry, but I can't be in the same room as them."

"Think nothing of it."

They walked out to the car and Killian helped her in. Emma couldn't help but feel guilty because she had made them leave, all because Neal and Zelena walked in. She watched out the window as Killian drove, but not in the direction of the Jones home. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach when she saw flashing lights and the screams of pure joy and laughter from kids.

"Would you like to go to the carnival instead?" He asked as he pulled over into the grass.

"Thank you, Killian," Emma said and got out of the car. "You know, I've never been to a carnival before."

"Then it all changes today."

As they walked through the gates, Emma felt like a little kid again. She wanted to ride all the rides and get cotton candy and corn dogs and funnel cake. She drug Killian to one of the rides. It spun around and left kids dizzy. She got in line, practically bouncing with excitement.

"I'm sorry we are coming here in fancy clothes. I'm also sorry that you have to be here while in that magnificent dress," Killian apologized.

She smiled. "It's okay." She pulled the skirt up and showed him that she was secretly wearing black leggings underneath the dress. "I always come prepared." They got onto the ride and she grabbed onto Killian's hand and held onto him tightly. "Don't let go."

"I won't, love." After they got off the ride, Emma then tugged him to a funnel cake stand. She giggled as Killian got powdered sugar in his stubble. Her lips were coated in it, and he pressed his to hers in a heated kiss. After a few more rides and games, Emma and Killian left the carnival. She carried the giant teddy bear he won her and cuddled it. "Did you have fun tonight, Swan?" He asked as he started the car.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but I liked this much better than I would have on a dinner date."

"As long as you're happy, it doesn't matter to me."

"I am. Thank you for everything you did tonight. I really appreciate it."

Liam and Elsa were asleep and the whole household was quiet when they got home. Emma snuck into her room to get ready for bed. She stripped off her dress and took her makeup off. She brushed the knots out of her hair and laid down on her bed, cuddling her new bear. As she looked at it, she couldn't help but think of Killian. It was a present to her from him on their first date.

In her opinion, it was the best first date in the history of first dates.
