Song: Mercy by: OneRepublic

Emma came out of the shower with a towel in hand to dry her hair. Killian already had his guitar out and was tuning it. He looked up at her, and for the first time, she realized she wasn't wearing makeup. He smirked at her and patted the empty space on the bed beside him. "It's not one of my best songs," he warned her. "I just learned it, so no harsh words at the end, please."

"I'm sure it's going to be amazing, Killian. No need to worry." He smiled lightly and began the song.

Angel of Mercy
How did you find me?
Where did you read my story?
Pulled from the papers,
Desperate and hardened,
seeking a momentary fix.

All I wanted to say,
All I wanted to do,
Is fall apart now.
All I wanted to feel,
I wanted to love,
It's all my fault now.
A Tragedy I fear.

Angel of Mercy
How did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of Mercy
How did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?
And I see you

Whoa Whoa Whoa
I feel you
Whoa Whoa Whoa

Fortress of daylight,
Caught me on standby,
Waiting to catch the quickest plane.
Fly me to nowhere,
it's better than somewhere.
That's where I've been and nothing's changed.

All I wanted to say
All I wanted to do
Is fall apart now
All I wanted to feel
I wanted to love
It's all my fault now
A Tragedy for sure

Angel of Mercy
How did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of Mercy
How did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?
And I see you

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa
I feel you
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

I'm so lost in you
A tragedy, seemed to be over now
A tragedy, it seemed to be over now

Angel of Mercy
How did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of Mercy
How did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?
And I see you

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa
I feel you
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa
I feel you
Oh, Oh, Whoa
I feel you
Oh Oh Oh

By the end of the song, Emma had tears in her eyes. Listening to him sing was like listening to angels themselves. He played the guitar amazingly as well. She clapped her hands and he blushed. He put the guitar down and leaned against the wall next to her. "Was it good?" He asked innocently.

"Good? Killian, it was amazing! Perfect even! I loved it!" She said and wrapped her arms around him.

"Really?"

She pulled back and tapped the tip of his nose with the tip of her finger. "Yes, really." He laughed and kissed her cheek.

"Emma!" Liam yelled from downstairs.

"Shit," she whispered.

"Don't worry, love. It's okay. I'll go with you," Killian said and grabbed her hand. They went down hand in hand, and Liam had his arms crossed over her chest.

"Killian, if you don't mind, I want to talk to Emma alone," Liam said.

"Of course, brother." He kissed Emma's cheek and gave her a 'just relax' look.

"I talked to the school, and there wasn't anyone who saw anything. But that doesn't mean that I don't believe you," Liam said after Killian left.

"Liam-"

"Emma, I want to finish. I think what you should do is talk to this girl and tell her that what she is doing is wrong. If she doesn't quit, then come to me and I'll bring this to the principal. I told you that I want you to be happy here."

"Thanks," she told him.

"This is the last time, Will! I don't want you in my chemistry stuff!" Victor yelled as two sets of footsteps ran down the stairs. "Liam! Tell him to stop!"

Emma slipped out of the kitchen and leaned against the wall. Her heart pounded in her chest. She actually thought that Liam was going to kick her out and take her back. After being sent back a hundred times by other families, she was ready to assume the worst. Killian cleared his throat and she looked over at him.

"Now, I know what you're thinking, and you need to chase the thoughts out of your head." He walked over to her and put his hands on her arms. "You aren't going to be abandoned."

She nodded. "I know, but it is almost a reflex that I assume the worst in someone. People have always been letting me down, and-"

"Hey, I don't intend to let you down." She gave him a soft smile and started leaning in. Then, right before their lips were about to touch, there was shuffling in the doorway.

They both pulled away to see Liam and Elsa looking at them with smiles on their faces. "Sorry, we didn't want to interrupt," Elsa said with a wide smile that lit up her entire face.

"And just stand there awkwardly? Next time, feel free to interrupt," Killian told them. Emma blushed and her head fell to his shoulder.

"Dinner's done," Liam informed them and both adults walked into the kitchen.

"Shall we finish what we were doing?" Killian asked with a smirk. He put his hands on her hips and pulled himself closer to her so they were flush against on another. Emma laughed and pressed her lips to his. He ran his tongue over her bottom lip in an attempt to deepen it, but she put her hand on his chest and pushed him off. He broke the kiss and looked at her weirdly. "You okay, darling?"

"Yeah." She licked her lips and grabbed his hand. "I'm just hungry."

"Let's go then." He wasn't going to push her to tell him what was really going on with her.
