Song: Need You Now by: Lady Antebellum

Emma ended up falling asleep to the sounds of the television. When she woke up, the tv was off and she was covered up with the blankets. The tv remote was on the nightstand and the bedroom door was closed. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. She looked at the clock and noticed it was around 5:00. Emma went downstairs to find Killian in the kitchen. The smell of hamburger meat filled the air.

"Well, good morning, sunshine," Killian said sarcastically when she entered the room.

"What are you making?" She asked as she sat down.

"Tacos. They're almost done. I was hoping you'd wake up on your own before they were finished."

"I did." She smiled. "Thanks for covering me up and turning the tv off."

He shrugged, but had a smile on his face. "No problem, darling. But you did give me quite the scare. I thought you had run off again."

"Sorry."

"It's alright because I found you in your room, sleeping like a baby, so there isn't anything to stress about."

Emma watched Killian move around the kitchen in silence. He put out the lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and taco sauce, then put the hamburger meat down. They put their tacos together and went out to the living room where they ate their food while watching a movie.

"Any luck with the song?" She asked during a commercial.

"It's coming along great, actually. I have the tune and some of the lyrics already, so it won't be too much longer now," he explained, then took another bite of his taco.

"Sounds awesome. But, I wanted to let you know that I'll be out for some of the day tomorrow. I have a few errands to run."

"That's fine, Swan. You don't need to ask me permission to leave. This is your home too."

She sucked in a sharp breath and returned to her food. Although there was difficulty because of that one word that hung over her head.

Home.

She had never had a home. Home was the place where you leave, you just miss it. She had learned that over time, but had never once felt like that anytime she ran away. But, was it possible that home was a person instead of a place? Home is where the heart is. So, when she ran away from the Jones Home, had she been missing the place itself, or the people in it? Or, a certain person in it? She looked over to Killian and he was staring intently at the tv screen. He looked so relaxed. Maybe he was her home. But, what if he wouldn't accept that? Even though he already told her he still loved her. What if he had been in love with her memory instead of the woman who she grew up to be? It hurt to think that Killian wouldn't accept her for who she truly was now. But, she refused to think like that, even if that possibility had entered her mind often.

After the movie was over, Killian gathered the plates up and put them in the sink. It was only 7:00, and too early for either of them to go to bed, but too late to go out anywhere. Emma curled up onto the couch and Killian sat down next to her. Without noticing it, she had leaned into him and was laying on his chest. He surely didn't mind though.

"Thank you for letting me stay here, Killian," Emma said, looking up at him.

"No problem, love." He kissed the top of her head. He put on another movie and they watched it in silence. Once it was over, he got up from the couch and tugged Emma up with him, bringing her to the basement.

"What are you doing, Killian?" She asked, sitting down on one of the chairs near the piano.

"I want to show you the song." He handed her a sheet of paper and Emma saw lyrics. Some of the sentences were highlighted. "Sing the highlighted parts."

Picture perfect memories,

Scattered all around the floor,
Reaching for the phone cause, I can't fight it any more
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweepin' in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk, and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now

Guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all
It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now
And I said I wouldn't call but I'm a little drunk and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now
I just need you now

Oh baby I need you now

As Emma sang, Killian couldn't believe how amazing she sounded. The song was a duet so she wouldn't be singing alone. They both sounded amazing by themselves, but together, it was unbelievable.

He wanted to take Emma to the recording studio that upcoming weekend to record them singing for his manager. He hoped that his fans would like Emma and they would want to hear her more, and she would have to join his band. He knew she was probably nervous, but he would try to get her to open up as much as she possibly could.

"That song is amazing, Killian," Emma complemented, putting the lyric sheet down.

"You sound amazing," he replied with a smile.

"So do you." She nudged him with her elbow, giving him a smile. She stood up and yawned. "I'm gonna go to bed. Night, Jones." Emma ruffled his hair and went up the stairs.

"Night, darling," he whispered, even though she was already gone.
