Promises

Charlie's POV.

Did I just hear Cecilia Jones??

Oh my god. She didn't even look like her.

"Are you sure?" Was all that came out of my mouth.

"What do you mean man?? She's the Cecilia. Your best friend." Shawn quickly said trying to not reach it to her.

But it did. And hard. As I saw tears in those Caramel brown eyes.

"Nice to see you Charlie..." She whispered and ran out of the room.

On first impulse I ran behind her and held her hand. She turned around.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean that. You have changed a lot...."

"I know. You are the same Charlie...." Her words trailed away coming in whispers.

"Cecilia. I didn't mean to forget you. Ever. I didn't do it on purpose. I swear." I looked into her eyes filled with pain.

"I can understand that Charlie but I waited. I waited for you to return. To call me. Or just a text. I really didn't expect more..." She started crying again.

"I'm sorry I couldn't do that. I'm really sorry."

"Does that fix what you did?"

"What I did? What did I do?"

"You promised me you will always be there for me. You'll never leave me alone. Promised me..."

"I know. I regret breaking it. I promise I won't break it from now. I promise I'll keep in touch."

"Don't make the promises you can't keep.... You left me all alone Charlie. I begged you to stay just one more day that day on the airport. You left."

"What day? What are you..... The day I left??" I wasn't getting what she was saying.

"Just go away Charlie. It was my mistake I came here. Just go...."

And she turned and started walking leaving my questions unsolved.

What did I do to break her so much?
