Mia paced her room, her nerves getting the best of her. She always tried to play it cool, pretend she wasn't nervous for anything. But as she waited for Embry to pick her up, she couldn't help but be nervous. She would be meeting the rest of Embry's friends, and the people he considered family. It terrified her that they wouldn't approve of her and would send her away like a wounded puppy with her tail tucked between her legs. No matter how much Embry and Paul assured her that she would be loved, she couldn't help but worry that everyone would hate her. She couldn't help but wonder what exactly would go on, and it terrified her in ways she had never been terrified.

Mia jumped as a throat cleared behind her, turning to face Embry who stood in the doorway of her room. "Are you okay?" He questioned, worry etched on his face.

Mia nodded, forcing a smile on her lips, "yeah I'm fine." She lied.

Tilting his head slightly, Embry shook his head, "You're lying."

Sighing Mia shrugged, "Okay so I'm nervous. So what."

"There's nothing to be nervous about." He smiled taking her hand. Their hands molded together perfectly, as if made for each other.

"Says the one who knows all of these people," Mia mumbled allowing him to pull her out the house. He led her to his car, insuring she was fully in before moving on to worry about himself.

"They are going to love you Mia, if they can love Paul and Jacob, they can love you." Embry joked, smiling over at her as he drove down the road.

The brunette laughed, shaking her head at the male, "How would Paul feel if he heard you say that?" She wondered aloud, gaining a chuckle.

"He'd probably want me dead, but it's true." Mia laughed softly, nodding in agreement. When the two pulled up, Embry was quick to walk at her side, leading her towards the large group of people she had once been close with. Before her parents went completely out of it, she had spent lots of time with the Clearwater family, her dad being a close friend of Harry's. They got in some argument, only a short time after her parents completely quit everything but work.

"Mia?" The smile on Sue Clearwater face was enough to bring a smile to Mia's. The older woman looked beyond happy, the first genuine smile any of them had seen since her husbands death. "It's so great to see you dear," Sue pulled Mia into a hug, rubbing the girls back in comfort.

"It's great to see you too," Mia stated with a small smile pulling away from the woman.

Mia looked back at Embry, giving him a tight lipped smile. She hopped everything was going good so far, but she was worried that they weren't. She could tell Sue was happy, but she didn't think anyone else was. Leah sat around the fire, her eyes full of hatred as she looked at Mia, making the girl shift uneasy. She had delta with many things in her life, but someone looking at her with that much hate in their eyes, was something entirely knew.

"Let's go sit," Embry stated, leading Mia away from Sue, who was fussing over the young adult. The two bid her goodbye, and made their way to the fire, settling on a log in silence. Numerous people approached them, introducing themselves to Mia and starting up a small conversation.

"Let us get started," Billy Black drew everyone's attention, his eyes full of wise stories as he looked around.

"The Quileutes have been a small tribe from the beginning," Billy began. "But we've always had magic in our blood. We were great spirit warriors. Shape shifters, that transform into the powerful wolf. This enabled us to scare off our enemies, and protect our tribe. One day our warriors came across a creature... It looked like a man, but it was hard like stone, and cold as ice... Our warriors' sharp teeth, finally tore it apart... But only fire would completely destroy it. They lived in fear, the Cold Man was not alone. And they were right. She took her vengeance out on the village. Our elder chief, Taha Aki, was the only spirit warrior left to save the tribe, after his son was killed. Taha Aki's Third Wife could see that he would lose." Mia leaned forward, getting invested into the story. "The Third Wife was no magical being, no special powers, but one... Courage. The Third Wife's sacrifice distracted the Cold Woman, long enough for Taha Aki to destroy her. She saved the tribe. Over time, our enemies have disappeared. But one remains... The Cold Ones. Our magic awakens when they near. And we sense it now, we feel the threat in our blood. Something terrible is coming. And we must all be ready. All of us."

A heavy weight seemed to be settled over everyone around, many of the males trading secret looks. Mia stayed silent, her mind working over the story, connecting the dots she stood up quickly. Embry followed her as she rushed away from the fire, making her way towards the road. Her stride was quick, her posture straight and full of anger. The others watched on slightly confused, before it seemed to dawn on them what exactly was happening as Embry chased after his imprint.

"Mia, would you just stop!" Embry caught up to the angry brunette, grabbing her arm to halt her strides.

"You knew!" She shouted, her angry eyes meeting his as she turned to face him. "You and Paul knew the entire time what truly happened, and it wouldn't surprise me if the rest of your pals knew." The anger in her eyes startled him slightly. "You watched me go insane trying to figure out what happened to her. You listened to me feel crazy about even thinking of the possibility of it being a vampire, yet you didn't say a damn word. In fact you fed into me feeling crazy!"

"Mia-"

Embry reached forward for the girl, who immediately stepped out of his reach, "Don't. Just don't touch me."

"You have to understand-"

"Understand? What that my so-called friends have done nothing but lie to my face the pass week?" Shaking her head Mia stepped further away from the male, "just leave me alone." Turning on her heels, Mia began to walk down the road towards her house.

"Wait, it's not safe," Embry stepped forwards.

Pausing Mia cast a glance over her shoulder, stopping the boy from making any further movements, "I can take care of myself. I've been doing it my whole life."

Embry could only watch as his imprint continued forwards, until he could no longer see her. He wanted to shift and hide in the woods, follow her just to make sure she was safe, but he could tell that she would know and she would only hate him more. Her words echoed in his mind, reminding him just how much she truly needed him, even if she tried to deny it.

The two sat at the beach, Mia leaning into his side slightly, something that surprised them both. "They got her back," the brunette stated. "She's okay for now."

"Was Paul there when it happened?" Embry wondered, running his fingers through the sand.

"He showed up after they kicked me out of the room," Mia explained. "I thought he was going to kill me for a second there. But then he just broke. He just sat there crying and begging for her not to leave him." Embry had tensed, only to relax as she intertwined their fingers. She didn't even think about it, she just did it. "He really loves her."

Embry nodded, watching the waves crash onto the shore not far from them. The two stayed silent for a while, soaking in each others company and the fact that their best friend hadn't died earlier in the day. "I really like you," Embry spoke up, breaking the silence.

Blushing slightly, Mia nodded, "I really like you too." Her voice was a whisper, just barely heard over the crashing of the waves. But Embry heard, and a smile broke out on his face as a feeling of happiness washed over him. Just maybe he had a chance for his happy ever after with his imprint.
