Maryland Summer Mascotte

The next morning was simply cruel. Falling out the bed whilst my face hitting the carpet, my body flopping everywhere- I was a complete wreck.

I wore a simple pair of light denim boyfriend jeans, an olive-green fitted sweater and plain black heels. Never bothered to do my hair nor my makeup because I decided I looked decent enough to walk through the doors.

But when I did, I got the rudest stares that I've ever received in my life.

People can be so mean.

It breaks my heart.

Well, not literally because the heart is- whatever.

"Good morning, Ms. Mascotte" Mrs. Tanton greeted me with a sweet smile, "Mr. Braune is waiting for you on floor 11 in room 6"

"Wait, why floor 11?"

"I have no clue, sweetie. But you should hurry because we both know how Mr. Braune is when he's impatient"

Nodding, I thanked her and went on the elevator. I waited in there along with other people who seemed displeased with my attire. My attitude was on one hundred today, I didn't care for anything nor anyone, wasn't in the mood to play any games or deal with foolishness.

My 'rest bitch' face is probably on at the moment.

I shrugged as I left the elevator. The red dimmed lights reflected out of each glass window, my lips becoming dry as I searched for room 6. Feeling my heart thumping against my chest, I couldn't help but think that something was going to happen.

Sexually.

Exoticly.

Weirdly.

I raised an eyebrow when I saw nobody in the room.

"Um... Am I being punk'd?" I looked around

Being on this eerie floor creeped me out to the max. I'm not good with being alone with red dimmed lights because it showed caution and danger.

I'm not a stupid white girl in horror movies. I know this shit.

I shrieked, "Ah! Mommy!" I ran towards the plant, hugging it

Ahren frowned, "Seriously?"

My breathing hitched at the sight of him. Ahren was wearing dark denim jeans, Calvin Klein underwear, and white socks. His lean, muscular body was nicely glistened from the red lights, his hair slicked back- yet somewhat messy.

"Um, sir?" I raised up a finger, "Why are you at work like this?"

"I didn't show up to work wearing only this, Maryland. I changed"

"Er, why?"

"Stop asking questions and come in here with me" Ahren gripped my wrist and dragged me behind him

I clashed my eyebrows together as I saw nothing but a regular office. We approached another door and Ahren unlocked it with a key. The door slowly opened, he let me go in first.
