Chapter 11 Where only friends? Aren't we?
We were getting in a smart black pick up truck.
"Cool car" I said complementing it.
"Thanks, but it's not mine it's a friend" he said rather awkwardly. "I've got a mort bike" he proudly told me, before I had the chance to think anything of it. "but I thought you'd rather go in this"
Ah that's so sweet.
"Thanks, that was rather thoughtful of yah" I said making him smile. " But I'm not to bothered as long as am not wearing a skirt or anything".
"Cool" he smirked.
"So were we going" I asked curiously. I hadn't been here for a while and even when I were. I stopped going places not long after her death. Too many memories. Too much pain.
He smiled almost nervously. "The Diner"
"Cool, that's on First Beach right?" I said trying to see if the one I was thinking of, was the right one.
"Yeah that the one. You do like it don't yah?" he said worry starting to creep back in his voice.
"Oh sure" I said looking over at him smiling. "I've spent a load of time there" I told him emphasising the word a load, not able to stop myself.
He chuckled.
I had spent a lot of time there. Considering Ant Sue has owned the place long before I was even born. Their were some good memories at that old place. So good that it was the one thing in this place. That gave me. No hurt. No pain.
Just thinking about the times gave me a warm an happy feeling. The times were me and Leah would trog out on Ice cream Sundays well our parents were doing the talk. Or when the three musketeers would nick our Ice creams after they had theirs. All the times I'd go home from school to the diner to hang out and sometimes to work so I could earn a bit of cash.
He chuckled again. I looked over at him and realized he was chuckling at me.
"What about you"
"Me? Tons" We pulled up to the same old-looking Dinner.
As we walked through the door. I couldn't help but smile, a true smile. It was all the same. Everything, completely the same. The same plane muddy brown walls. The same tables. The same dinner chairs around the counter. The same happy incredible feeling that I'd always felt. Which always did the same job, comforting me. The only things that had changed where the staff.
"Come on Rach. Why you just standing there" Paul said jokingly at me. As he made his way towards a table with a widow.
"You like the widow seats than" I said curiosity.
"Actuary, I'm not really bothered" he said shrugging his shoulders. "Besides I chose this table, because you're a girl and most girls love to sit by the widow for some reason "he added. To prove his point, before he realized what it sounded like. But he didn't seem to be embarrassed or anything, except for awkward.
I raised my eye brow at him in question, but let it go anywhere. "Well I'm actuary not to bothered about sitting at the widow, unless the other person wants to". I said smiling at him.
"What you're not a normal girl " he gasped putting a hand over his mouth pretending to be shocked .
"No I'm not" I said punching his shoulder lightly. I laughed and he joined in with me. Because I knew I wasn't an normal girl not with the things that went on back in college.
"Are you ready to order yet" I girl asked with bright green eyes and flaming red hair that went half way down her back.
"Oh hey Jane you haven't met Rachel Black the oldest of Jacob's two sisters have you?" Paul asked happily.
