I didn't speak to Harry for three days.

At first, he tried to stop me from walking away, shouted my name in the corridor and attempted to make light conversation during potions.

I ignored him every time.

Eventually he got the message and backed off, deciding it would be better for me to speak to him first. He had attacked my boyfriend after all.

The bad thing was, I knew that Harry wasn't really in the wrong. He was horrified by what he'd done to Draco, and immediately after he finished his first detention with Snape he went with Ginny to the Room of Requirement, where Ginny hid the book in a place Harry would never find. Of course there was also the reason he attacked Draco in the first place - Draco had cursed Katie Bell.

He hadn't meant to curse Katie, granted, but he had meant to curse Professor Dumbledore. Why? What was Draco planning?

Eventually, I decided that I could ignore Harry no longer. As I left the hospital wing three nights after the attack, I saw a rather melancholic-looking Harry sat on a window ledge, staring out at the Forbidden Forest and sighing deeply. I took a deep breathe, and rather than turning left and avoiding him, I stepped forward and stopped beside him.

He looked up, his eyes lighting up as he saw me, and he jumped to his feet. "Li!" he exclaimed.

I gave him a weak smile, and Harry's grin immediately shrunk. "Sorry, too enthusiastic. How is he?" Harry jerked his head towards the doors of the hospital wing, and I sighed. "He's getting better - he's still taking his revitalization potion, and Madam Pompfrey is giving him an awful medicine for blood loss, but he's getting better."

Harry nodded guiltily. "Li, I can't even begin to apologise..."

"No you can't" I said abruptly. Harry's shoulders heaved sadly. "But I understand why you did it, I probably would have done the same thing if I thought that somebody had hexed one of my friends."

Harry glanced upwards in surprise. "He did it?" he whispered. I sighed. "I'm almost certain, but I don't think he meant to, not to curse Katie anyway. I think he's being pressured into something Harry, threatened into doing something. I just don't know what."

Harry nodded and reached out, placing a sympathetic hand on my shoulder. "I really am sorry Li, I got rid of the book, and I think you should get rid of your copy too." I raised my eyebrows at him. "But you won't be the best in the class anymore."

Harry shrugged his shoulders. "I was never the best anyway - that was always you. I cheated, used somebody elses notes. That book has brought me nothing but trouble. Besides, being Slughorn's favourite hasn't exactly helped me."

"How is that going?"

Harry sighed. "He's been avoiding me, you've seen how he ignores me in lessons. I think I've blown my shot."

"Well with any luck, you'll get another chance."

Suddenly, Harry's eyes lit up. I frowned as he breathed deeply, shaking his head as if he couldn't believe his own stupidity. "Of course! Luck!"

It took me a second to get what he meant. "The Felix Felicis!" I exclaimed upon realisation. Harry nodded, now grinning from ear to ear. "You still have it?" I asked. He nodded excitedly "I knew that I needed to save it for something! Why didn't we think of this before?"

We arranged to meet at the Covered Bridge after dinner, where Harry would take the potion and we could start on our mission. The meal dragged past as I pretended to be listening to Honey's prattling, watching as Harry explained our plan to Ron and Hermione across the room. From their lack of objections and arguing, they clearly thought it was a good plan, at least the best plan we had.

After my meal I headed back to my room quickly, leaving behind my books and changing into some more comfortable clothes and my trainers. Then I headed straight to the bridge, thankfully not running into anybody.

Maybe the luck was working already.

By the time I arrived, Harry was already there. We hid behind a corner as Harry quickly uncorked the bottle and downed the liquid in one, not even tasting the liquid that was supposed to taste like liquid gold. I stared expectantly at him, waiting as the potion began to work through his system.

It had started by the time Harry had put the empty vial back in his pocket. There was a peculiar twinkle in his eye that hadn't been there a second ago, a spring in his step as he started to bounce slightly.
