Something Unexpected

I woke to a constant knocking on my front door. I didn't know anyone in the building as of yet so I wondered who it could be. I glanced down at my watch 4:30am it read furrowing my brow I sleepily walked down stairs to the front door as the constant knocking became more prominant

"Who is it!" I yelled from the other side of the door but no one answered the only sound was the constant knocking. I glanced through the peephole but I could make out the figure they were standing too close. I slowly opened the door and someone fell into my arms nearly knocking me to the ground

"L-Lauren what happened?" I asked in a concerned tone

"I didn't have any place else to go, I'm sorry" she said as she cried into my arms.

"No,No it's it's ok come in" I told her as I closed the door behind us and locked it.

Lauren and I sat on the sofa I stared at her waiting for her to speak.

"Lauren what happened? Why did you disappear?" I asked

"I-I was a afraid that Jake would find me and hurt you, I left for your safety but when he beat me again I finally had enough, I couldn't take that mother fucker hurting me again I just I-" her words her cut off by her soft whimpers.

I tried my best to console her

"Hey, it's ok you can stay here, there's plenty of room and like I told you before he can't find you here" I said gently rubbing her back. I noticed that Lauren had a small douffle bag with her that probably held everything that she owned inside of it.

"Is that your bag?" I asked

She nodded.

"I'll take it up to your room for you if you'd like" I said taking the bag Lauren followed me upstairs to her room. After placing the bag on the bed I turned to her

"I'm pretty sure you know the routine by now bathrooms there and I'll just be downstairs heating up dinner I got a pasta dinner for one but they always give me more than enough we can share if you wa-"

But before I could finish my words I was engulfed in a gentle hug.

"Thank you" Lauren rasped

"Hey it's honestly not a problem I'm just glad that you're back to stay " I said smiling down at her

"Freshen up and join me down stairs okay" I urged Lauren nodded her head I exited the room closing the door behind me.

I threw our dinner in the microwave to heat up then walked over to the cabinet and pulled out two wine glasses and an expensive bottle of white wine from the wine cooler.

Lauren entered the kitchen just as I was setting our food down

"Hey, glad you decided to join me" I said smiling at her

She giggle and walked over to the table I quickly ran over and pulled her seat out for her

"Madam" I gestured Lauren blushed as she took her seat

"Thank you, this looks delicious" she said as her eyes scanned over the food. "Oh trust me it's the best damn Spaghetti and meatballs you'll ever eat the best in town actually.. I'll take you there one day.
