'Open the gates!' the gatekeeper shouted. The West gate crept open and more elven guards came to receive us. Baron was half conscious mounting Gray, yes, I gave the wolf a name. The man suffered from too much blood loss, he had a few broken bones and two deep wounds he endured for the past two days. Aramis did very well in keeping him awake, lifting his spirit by reminding the man how great a knight he had been. The wolf will eat him, I told, and the knight retorted saying he wouldn't want to die a shameful death.

The wolf did as I say, Gray gently bent his knees and Baron slid down, Aramis caught him. Guards rushed to help the wounded man and we all went. I knew I wasn't allowed to take the wolf inside the elven fortress, but I insisted saying Gray was a pet, sort of. The wolf understands me as much as I understand him, a gift I've just discovered two days ago. I seemed I have too much to learn about myself, about being a vaurg.

They rushed Baron to the healers, Aramis followed them while I went to the kitchen to see the girls. Though the girls were all happy to see me, something's changed. Something did change after I stepped out to this realm.

That evening, King Thranduil summoned me to his library. I didn't had a chance to change my dirty dress or fix my tousled hair, and I went to the palace with haste. I left Gray in the dungeon, the wolf cannot linger around elven halls.

'What happened?' the King asked upon seeing me. There was a hint of concern in his tone, though he wouldn't admit it, his eyes betrayed him. He scanned me head to toe while he moved around graciously across the dimmed room. He looked weary and cold, perhaps he has been waiting for us for a while.

'We got ambushed, my Lord.' I murmured.

'By what? Orcs? Bandits? Goblins?'

It would be best if I tell him the truth, I thought, and perhaps he would change his mind about the Wolfmen. 'The wolfmen came to take me back to Silent Hollow, their Alpha thinks I am a valuable piece of trade. I would be glad to tell you what I know, if you would return the favor.'

The king gave me an evil grin, he was not happy at all. I darted my eyes to the floor upon realising my mistake. Then, he motioned towards me, lifting his chin to show who's in authority. 'You are one brave girl, I must admit. Speak freely if you must, I will listen.'

For a moment I watched his eyes for any signs of mischief, he's a king of tricks! Resolved, I began telling him, 'I've been to the heath, I've seen the wasteland with my own eyes. Smoking pits deep in the blackened earth, but no dragons- not this time. The blue wizard lied and everyone has been deceived. The wolfmen were not your enemy, they were peace loving freefolks who love wolves and snow. Your army will never be able to enter their fortress, you're making them march to their death.'

'And where did you learn to assess battlements and warfare, vaurg?' he said with sarcasm. He was right, I know nothing of warfare. 'You obviously doubt my competencies in ruling this kingdom. Such young spirit full of hope but overflowing with ignorance, it saddens me.'
