"I'll have the McFeast Deluxe meal with a coca cola and a McFlurry" I told the lady on the other side of the intercom. "Wena baba?" "Ayi cha Nompilo angeke ngikwazi. Too much junk food for me" he drove on picked up the food and left. "Baba, wena uzodlani ke?" "I'll eat on the plane. Lokudla kwakho kunuka kabi" "Haibo Baba. Wena uyayithanda iMcDonalds" I waved a couple of fries in front of his face. "Look nje Baba, don't these chips look mouthwatering?" "No Nompilo uzongipathisa iheart attack" I pouted. "But Dad you can't say no to this" He stared at me, then back at the road. "I guess you want to see me dead" he said. I moved the chips and ate one. "No dad. I just don't know why you're not enjoying life anymore. Its very short" "And how would you know, you're not even twenty years old" I sat up and looked at him. "True, but I was in a coma for three months. I am luckily to be alive. I mean what if  Mike killed me, I would have had so many regrets" He stared at me for a long time. "You're right, we only have one life. In that life, there is only limited time to find the one you can't live without and marry them" "Just like you did with mom?" I smiled. He smiled back. "Your mom was very beautiful when I first met her. She wanted nothing to do with me but we had the same course. I nagged her whenever we attended lectures until she finally agreed to go out with me. Our first date was beautiful, we got along really well. There were many dates after that, until we finally got married. Then you were born, you made our bond stronger. Until Mike came" He sighed and shifted his gaze to me. "Mike isn't the reason why things are like this with me and your mother. I want you to respect him like the uncle he is. Even after what he did to me and you" "What did he do to you?" I asked. "This whole thing with Nkanyezi-"

Just then a truck swerved into the lane next to us, in an attempt to overtake us. The driver lost control. My father tried to get our car out of the way but it was too late. The truck slammed into his side of the car, and pushed it to a nearby robot, killing him instantly and leaving me unconscious. I heard Luther Vandross's "Can heaven wait" playing before I dozed off.

"She's just injured. But the man, whom appears to be her father is gone" I could hear the paramedics say. "What about the truck driver?" "He's also gone". The conversation went on between the paramedics. I dozed off once again.

"In other news, the body of tycoon Miles Sono was found on the R21 lying next to that of his injured daughter, Nompilo. The two were involved in a car accident that resulted in two deaths. The death of the truck driver and that of Miles Sono. His family hasn't begun with funeral arrangements but shall begin when Nompilo, who is due out of hospital in two days, returns home. Next up we have your sports news"

That smell again. Those sounds again. Those sheets again. That duvet. Once again, I was lying in hospital. I couldn't feel any pain this time, but deep down there was something very painful. Emotionally I knew I should be crying, but I couldn't recall over what. I looked to the side and couldn't see my mom, but my beautiful aunt Simosihle sitting next to me. She was looking down at her phone, which gave me enough time to admire her. She had a big furry afro, which she always tied with a hair clip on the side. She had manicured short nails, to allow her to type properly. She had long real eyelashes that made you feel guilty when she looked up. She was the exact definition of a beautiful African woman. A Zulu princess who loved her roots and herself.
