Chapter Sixteen:

The whole way to English class, I felt like I had a bounce in my step. I couldn't help but smile and shake my head. The weekend was amazing! I cant lie.

"Someone's smiley," Owen commented as he slid into the seat next to me.

"Very." I smile brightly. His face was expressionless as he looked around the room. I nudged him. "Why so glum, chum?" He shrugged."Oh come on, whats wrong with you?" I ask.

"What did you get up to this weekend?" He asked, turning to look at me.

"I was with Elliott and you had come over that one night and my parents and yeah.." He nodded his head side to side and breathed out through his nose. "What?" I ask.

"What, what?"

"Never mind." I say. He chuckled and turned in his seat to look at me, a small smile on his face. I look at him like he's crazy. "What's that look for?"

"Nothing," he gives me a small smile. "I've missed talking to you, Lani-bear."

"Oh." His smile disappeared and he looked away. What is with him?

After a stretch of silence he turned back to me. "If you don't want me to sit next to you, I'm sure I can ask someone to swap."

"No its fine." I say. He nodded and dropped his head on the table. "Whats going on with you?" I ask him.

"Nothing," I heard him mumble.

"Okay then." As time dragged by, I couldn't help but glance at Owen's slumped figure. What was going on with him? When class ends I got up. Once my bag is over my shoulder, I don't head towards the door, I watch Owen as he slowly slides his chair back and stands up.

Elliott walks up to me and smiles."Hey, love. You okay?"

"Yeah, Owen dropped my mood a little bit but other than that I'm amazing." I beam.

"What did he do?" He swung our arms as we walked down the school hallway.

"Just..I dont know how to explain it." He frowned but didn't press. "I dont want my mood completely ruined, so how is your morning so far?"

"It was good," he smiled. "Got paired with a girl that loves science, so I think I'll be able to do good on this test."

"Great." I smile. I bite my lip and look around.

"You okay love?" I nodded my head and smiled up at him. He kisses my forehead and I pull him close. Jake appears at his best friend side and grinned at us.

"Hello, ladies. How are we this fine day?"

I laughed. "Jake, you're so weird."

He pouted. "You wound me, L."

"Sorry," I shrugged and grinned up at him. His pout was gone instantly and replaced with a grin. "What?" He picked me up and spun me around. I laughed.

"I'm happy," he shrugged and looked over my shoulder. "I don't think your boyfriend like's me doing this.." I looked over his shoulder at Elliott. He raised his eyebrow and said nothing.

I get out of Jake's arms and wrap my arms around Elliott. "What's wrong baby?"

"Nothing," he gives me a small smile. I kiss his cheek. Jake skips along side us as we head towards our next lesson, a goofy smile still on his face.

"Whats up with you?" I ask Jake.

He shrugged, "happy."

:"Okay." I say. "We'll see you later." I pull Elliott off to the side. "Whats up with you? You were perfectly fine."
