Chapter 23

Laura's POV

I need time to think. I need time alone.

All I heard next was my phone ringing.

I declined it. I am not in the mood.

So my parents are gone, Aunt Lilyannette is gone and 3 of my uncles are gone.

I can't believe it. Who's gonna die next?

I heard someone walk down the stairs so I stopped playing guitar but still kept it on my lap.

I saw that it was Ratliff that was walking down the stairs.

Ratliff- what are you doing here alone?

Me- just thinking. About stuff.

Ratliff- you look dad, Laura. Are you okay?

Me- ye-- no I'm not.

I say it as I start to cry.

Ratliff- it's okay Laura.

He comes over to me and wraps his arms around me. I put the guitar on the floor.

Ratliff- please don't cry.

I put my head on his shoulder.

Me- *sniff* do you like Rydel?

I lift my head and look him in the eyes. He started chuckling then looked me back in the eyes and saw that I was dead serious.

Ratliff- I don't know. Obviously as a friend.

Me- more Than a friend?

Ratliff- I little.

Me- OMG!!!!!

Ratliff- what?

Me- Rydel likes you too!

I put my hand over my mouth after I said that.

Me- I wasn't supposed to tell you that..

Ratliff- *chuckles* I won't tell.

We both smile then we head upstairs.

I walk to the backyard but they aren't in the pool anymore.

Me- I guess they're all upstairs.

Ratliff- yeah.

We walk upstairs. I go into Ross' room and Ratliff goes to rydel's room.

I knock on the door and I walk in seeing Ross is laying on his bed reading.

Woah! Ross is reading a book!! Rare moment!

I walk in and close the door behind me.

I sit down on his bed beside him.

Me- what ya readin'?

Ross- Percy Jackson Series.

Me- cool. Ratliff's here now. We should practice for the concert. It's already 3:00pm. I still have to do make-up. And so does Rydel!

Ross- okay, okay. Calm down.

I roll my eyes and open the door then walk out of his room.

I walk down to the kitchen and grab a bottle of water from the fridge.

I go back upstairs and go into rydels room and see Rydel and Ratliff sitting on the bed talking.

Me- hey guys.

Rydel & Ratliff- hey.

Me- we should go practice now.

They both got up and went to the basement with Ross and I following behind. But I stopped at ryland, rocky and Rikers rooms' and told them we are gonna practice too.

We practiced for about 2 hours then me and Rydel went upstairs for make-up and wardrobe.
