I had broken my leg, I just knew it. It was broken, there was just no way it wasn’t broken. I mean, a normal leg didn’t swell this much for fucks sake.

“It’s not broken,” Ash told me for the millionth time in the past two days since I came back from the hospital.

“It looks broken.”

“That’s because you hit it against an amp, then against the edge of the stage and then against an amp again Sal. How do you expect it to look after you hit it hard three times? It’s not broken, believe me. The doctor told you it wasn’t broken,” Ash said long-sufferingly.

“Maybe the X-Ray machine was broken or something.”

Ash sighed and scowled at me.

“Fine, fine, it’s not broken.”

She placed the ice pack on my shin and I winced, and she gave me a look that told me to suck it up. She thought that I had gotten myself into this mess and she was having no mercy with me. The fact that she had dropped her mean front didn’t mean that she would magically trust Ollie and really that he hadn’t come around to see how I was didn’t help either. She said that if I had just let him be instead of trying to chase after him, like she said I always did, maybe I wouldn’t be bored to death in my house right now. The doctor had ordered me a week of rest, no school or anything, to see if my mild concussion generated any complications.

Really what that meant was that I had a week to bore myself out of my mind and give Ash time to tell me how I had dug this grave myself. Oh and of course she wouldn’t forget to tell me how lowly she thought about my boyfriend, repeatedly. I sighed and leaned back on the couch. If it were up to me I would’ve already gone to talk to Ollie but Ash said that either he came or at least during this week things between us wouldn’t get fixed. Mina was too busy drooling after the back-to-normal, loving Ash to protest, so I had no one to plead mercy for me.

I saw Kevin after Ollie punched him and I felt kind of bad for the way my heart fluttered. He punched Kevin for me, moreover, almost broke the guy’s nose, just for me. I couldn’t help but think about what else he would do for me, and just for me. My belly did gymnastics when I thought about that. Watching what Ollie did just because Kevin kissed me told me the guy was in this as far as I was, I just had to get the courage to tell him I loved him, which wasn’t half as easy as thinking it was.
