A New Life

Chapter 19

The rumor, apparently, had been spreading around for a few weeks. It stayed hidden from Yusei, until today.

"Hey, did you hear?" Someone said as the duelist walked by. He stopped and listened, his curiosity getting the better of him.

"What?"

"There's a new group in training with the government. They got here a few weeks ago, but, get this, they have no idea what duel monsters are."

"No way! Do you know why they are here?"

"I think they are looking for someone named Danny Phantom. He's a ghost, literally!" They started to laugh at that.

"That's hilarious! Everyone knows: ghosts don't exist." They continued to laugh, unaware someone was eavesdropping on them.

Yusei started off at a fast pace back home. Someone was hunting Danny and if it was who he thought it was, the halfa couldn't afford to go back.

He burst through the door, startling Crow, who was working on his runner with Tucker. Over on the couch was Sam and Danny, their daughter nestled in between them.

"Danny, did the people who... did this to you, work for the government?" The Umbreon froze at the question as if he was trying to push those horrid memories back. He nodded.

"Are they able to travel between dimensions?"

"N-no. Wh-why?" Yusei repeated what he heard. Each clue made Danny inch closer to Dani. When Yusei finished, the halfa mumbled something under his breath, his eyes wide in fear and his body trembling; "they're back."

Tucker trotted over to the distraught family, Crow in tow, and snuggled up to them as he whispered calming words to his friend.

Sam picked up Dani by her scruff and brought her to the kitchen. Crow had opened the door to the appartment side, then joined the two friends on the couch.

"We are NEVER letting them get to you," Yusei said as he sat down with the group. The Umbreon's sides seemed to rise and fall a mile a minute as he panicked. It slowed down when he remembered where he was and who he was with.

He stiffened at a knock on the door. Yusei placed a reassuring hand on Danny's back, showing everything will be alright. He awnsered the door. Two men dressed in white stood there, looking very formal like, a wire ran from their ears.

"Hello, I'm Agent O and this is Agent P from an organization called The Guy's in White. We are here because we detected a large amount of ectoplasm in this area." He peered inside. He could only see Crow from where they stood, but a low beep told the agents that they were in the right place.

They shoved the duel champ out of the way and made their way to the couch. Crow stood up, placing himself between them and the hyperventilating halfa. Agent O lifted a hand to hit the red-head, but was blown back by a black and green orb.

Crow looked behind him. Danny was in his ghost form, his eyes blazing a radioactive green from his rage.

"You are to never hurt my friends." His gaze shifted to the other agent. "that was just a warning shot." Agent P didn't seem to get the message. He advanced to Danny, but stopped at Yusei's  voice.

"Hey, buddy," he punched the lights out of him. "That means get. Out." Agent O stirred and saw his uncounsious partner. he picked him up and carried him out of the house, but shot a revenge filled glance back at them before exiting.

Danny smiled at Yusei. Tucker ran off to get Sam and Dani and tell them what happened. As they came out, Danny knew then and there he had something he has never had before.

He had a REAL home. One where he didn't need to hide and run from when he needed to save the day.
