i've tried,
to tell you how i feel
but my tongue fails me.
so i had to rely
on my handy pen.
you see,
when i look at you,
my heart doesn't just leap
it sprints from my chest.
your voice,
soft and smooth
calms my uneasy nerves.
i've felt love before,
but nothing like
the electricity that,
runs through my body
when our hands
gently brush.

before i met you

i was filled
with shades of grey,
now i know the taste
of vibrant rainbows.
