"Hey Mabel, look at this!" Melody said cheerfully, lifting her right leg and skating backwards.

"That's pretty cool," Robbie said, chuckling. It turned out Wendy's plans weren't until later that night.

"Woah, cool!" I said, fall I.g on my face again. Melody and Robbie both raced to help me up while Ford skated slowly behind.

"Thanks, guys. Usually, I have Dipper when we go to the skating rink back in Piedmont. He's the better skater."

"Bummer. Wish I could meet the little dude." Robbie said calmly.

"Why'd you say he couldn't come?" Melody asked, skating circles around Robbie and me.

"He broke his arm. It was pretty bad. Which sucks, because he would've loved you guys." I nearly slipped again, grabbing onto Robbie's arm.

"Well, you're pretty cool too man." I looked up at Robbie.

"Really?"

"Yeah Mabes! You're spectacular!" Melody exclaimed.

I blushed again, about to thank them, when I heard a crash behind me.

"Ford?" I asked, skating back to my uncle.

"Sorry, I haven't been skating for over thirty years." He sighed regretfully.

"That's okay, I'll help you." I held his hand as we slowly skated after Robbie and Melody.

"Ford?" I asked after a minute or two.

"Yes, Mabel?"

"Why are all your attractions fake? There are real mysteries in this town." Ford sighed.

"Mabel, even if there were mysteries in those woods, I'm much too old to hunt after them."

"I could help." I offered. "Dipper and I are always looking for adventures like these."

"Mabel, there are none. You and your brother have no idea what you're doing." I stopped skating.

"Well fine! You're too old and stubborn to believe me!" I said angrily, skating towards land. "There are other people who can hunt them anyway."

"Mabel, wh-" I didn't hear anything else Ford said. I'm not entirely sure he even said anything. All I could hear was the ice splitting beneath me followed by a freezing sensation.
