I waited for this day to come for almost 7 years and now it's finally happening. I'm going to work as a part-timer to teach English in South Korea for 3 months! I got interested in Korea when I was 13 years old and always wanted to visit this country ever since. My friend Evelyn is going along with me on this trip. She's interested in Korea as much as I am, so she's the perfect company for this adventure.
We both meet at the airport at 8pm and we're so excited and hyped about everything.
"I just can't believe we're flying to Korea! I've saved all my money for this trip and I'm sure we'll have the best time in our lives" I say enthusiastic.
"I know right?! And I hope that the atmosphere at our work place will be nice as well so we don't need to worry about anything and we'll even have a greater time there" Evelyn answers. As time passed, we finally get on the plane - ready for take-off. The flight would take around 9~10 hours so I decide to sleep during the whole flight to be well rested when we arrive in Korea. At first I have a hard time falling asleep. I plug my earphones in and listen to music and fell asleep right away. It's the first time for me flying so many hours, I'm glad that the flight is calm and pleasant.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we'll arrive at Incheon airport shortly" the pilot says eventually. Evelyn grabs my hand and smiles from one ear to the other ear and I return a smile as big as hers.
"We're here. We finally made it, oh my god this is life!" I say excited.
We land at around 3pm, get off the plane, take our luggage and head to the taxi stations to drive to our accommodation. Even though it's located in Hongdae, the rent isn't that expensive and since we earn money here as well we can afford it. The apartment is rather small and on a rooftop but we have a really nice view over Hongdae so that was a plus!
Even though we are quiet worn out because of the long flight, we decide to empty our suitcases and decorate our apartment a little bit with the pictures of our friends and family we brought along. Once we're done we go out to look for a restaurant to get something to eat. We are already so hungry and want to taste some good traditional Korean food.
As we're strolling down the streets of Hongdae we couldn't believe our eyes. Everything is so breathtaking and feels unreal. Alone all the shopping opportunities are amazing!"Where should we eat? I totally forgot to catch up on good restaurants because I was too excited coming here" Evelyn says with a smile.
"Hm, I don't know either here are so many restaurants.. let's walk a little further or let's just ask somebody here" I reply. We keep walking for 5 minutes and decide to just ask some people if they could recommend any good place to eat. Then all of a sudden Evelyn squeaks loudly and holds on to my arm.
"Evelyn, what's wrong? Are you hurt?" I ask kind of worried.
"Oh my god, do you see that guy standing over there in front of that store??" she asks thrilled.
"Which one do you mean?"
"That one dressed in all black, with blondish hair. That one that looks kinda like a foreigner!" she points delicately at him.
"Oh my.. Sweet Jesus.." I say stunned and disbelieving my eyes.
"Isn't that Vernon from Seventeen you always daydream about?", asks Evelyn.
"Oh my freaking god how is this possible? How are we so lucky to see him on the streets at the day we arrive here in Korea!?" I'm literally questioning my life right now. This is impossible to be real.
"Go approach him! Ask him if he knows a nice place to eat, we can't just stand here and do nothing!" Evelyn says prompt and pushes me towards his direction.
