Chapter Twenty Five: The Bitter Truth

Len POV.

Several days passed and I finally managed to convince Oz company to cooperate with us. "Master Len, you saved the project, thank god." One of the men who's working on the project said.

"I just said the truth, I'll never do anything sketchy or illegal just for the sake of succeeding the company." I said and then excuse myself, suddenly my phone rings and again, it was blocked number. "What do you want Carl?"

"Just wanted to congratulate you... You finished the first obstacle, now for the big challenge, looking forward to see you solve it." When I was about to reply Carl hang up.

"Wait Carl! Damn it." I shouted but for nothing. What challenge is he talking about, why is he keeps on tormenting me?!

"Master Len?" I turned around annoyed to see, Zen, one of the co-worker called me. "Is it bad time?" I take a deep breathe to calm myself.

"No, no, I'm sorry. How can I help you?" I asked.

"Just wanted to chat up with you, I heard you got yourself a girlfriend, so lucky." Zen said.

"What about you and your girlfriend?" I asked.

"Oh... We broke up, I introduced her to my parents and they didn't like her, also her parents hates me too so we couldn't be together." Zen said with a sad smile. My heart felt uneasy when he says that, I try to distract myself by the thought of Carl and his schemes.

I head back home to be greeted by Rina and Emma, their smiles makes me forget all my troubles but I stand still when I see Ran wearing his hoodie listening to music while licking a lollipop. When he noticed me he took off his headphone then take out the lollipop out of his mouth. "Hey loser, what's with the dull face, just so you know I'm here because Emma told me to." Ran said with his usual arrogant tone. Seriously this brat piss me off!

"Let's all go out together!" Rina suggested.

"Like a... Double date!" Emma said then Ran looked at me disgusted.

"Disgusting, I don't want to see you get all lovey-dovey with Len." Ran said then Rina punched his arm angrily.

"Learn your manner in front of me and Len!" Rina shouted angrily at him then hugged my arm blushing slightly. "He's my precious boyfriend..." My heart skipped a beat when she said that and I quickly avert my gaze.

"Anyway, I know this great Italian restaurant." Ran said with a small smile as he shift his gaze toward Emma. "It took me three weeks to reserve a table, so what you say?" Emma nodded her head.

"Awww.... What about me?!" Rina said as she pout.

"Yeah, yeah, I reserved a table for you and your stupid boyfriend." Ran said then looked at me with his cool expression, even though he's a brat, I can't deny he has his own charm, he has a long eyelashes for a guy and his smile resembles Rina very much. "Ew... Why are you staring at me for too long, hurry up or I'll leave you behind." He held Emma's hand then walked away.

We all head to a high-class restaurant and I'm impressed by Ran's taste in restaurants. "Are you sure you can get in with your clothes like that? Emma's dress is fine, I'm wearing a suit while Rina's wearing her bodyguard's uniform but you're wearing something very casual." I said but Ran didn't care.

"There isn't a dress code here, so I don't care. I like being myself around Emma." Ran said then looked at Emma. "It's fine right?" Emma blushed then nodded her head. "See? End of the story." We all head inside and order a big pizza, we laughed, talked and even fought... A little. This mood made me feel the burden on me lessen.

Carl POV.

I took ??? to an Italian restaurant, the fool thinks I'm taking her on a date but in the truth, I'm watching Len progressing. "Carl, what's wrong?" ??? Asked.
