Happy Birthday Tahlia

I'd like to wish a happy birthday to my best friend of 8 years named Tahlia Holtzhausen.

Dear Tahlia

I would like to say happy birthday but I know that won't be enough. I sometimes wonder why you chose me to be your best friend all those years ago.

I remember when we first met and I didn't know any English. I remember the time when I would sit alone at break while others played and laughed. I was alone until you approached me and asked me to play with you for the first time. I still remember the way you smiled at me when you asked me to play with you. I remember the first piece of licorice you gave me. This was all in first grade.

I remember when our second year of primary school rolled in. I remember crossing my fingers and praying that we would be in the same class. I remember how happy I felt when they announced that we would be in the same class. Although that day, you looked a little upset and sad. You never told me why though.
