" 1.. 2.. 3!"

On the count of 3, Hoshi pushed the door open slowly. The moment we stepped into the fairly large room, a few eyes were on us.. We greeted them formally, bowing to the seniors. There were people Hoshi knew and people I knew. There were several round tables scattered around the room and the marble flooring was shiny. We scanned the room for our parents and I managed to spot them at the table in the middle of the room. I tugged on Hoshi's arm and pointed to where they were before we headed there.

I followed a clear, planned path to the table. Halfway to the table, 2 girls intercepted the path and stopped us. I knew them. I was related to them. However, I did not really like them. They greeted me informally. They had surprised looks on their faces when they confirmed Hoshi's identity as the member of the kpop group, Seventeen.

"Woah... Crystal... I didn't know you were capable of actually dating an idol, let alone even keep a relationship for long.. How did you do that? Is he crazy or something?" one of them exclaimed, questioning us.

"No, he isn't crazy. He wasn't even an idol when we first met and got together. Me dating an idol is definitely less crazy than someone who is single and still wastes her life away at the age of 27," I replied, crossing my arms.

One of them felt the burn and started ranting about how she was sorting her life out. Nothing but excuses. Instead of staying around for her stories, I dismissed myself and grabbed Hoshi's wrist. I went around them towards my mother.

When I got close to the table, I let go of Hoshi. I ran to my mother who was sitting down at a round table with Hoshi's parents. I rushed up to the back of her chair and hugged her from behind.

"Hi mum! I missed you!" I greeted her cheerfully.

She turned around with a wide smile on her face as she greeted me back. She missed me greatly too. I noted the people at the table and bowed.

"Good Evening, Mr and Mdm Kwon. It's nice to meet you again," I greeted them politely.

They greeted me back and I smiled at them. Hoshi too, hugged and greeted his parents and my mum. Hoshi was on the brink of tears. He rarely got to meet his parents due to his job and his parents living a distance away. I sat next to my mother at the table and caught up with her.

I, too, was busy with the stylist job. I followed Seventeen to every show they had. I had also gotten a job as a part-time waitress at a Japanese restaurant not far from our house. It was the one that Hoshi loved. Every now and then, I got to bring home the leftover food from the restaurant. Hoshi's eyes would literally shine when he saw me holding a plastic bag upon returning home from work. Since I had 2 jobs, I barely had time to visit my mother. I only managed to at most once every 2 months. However, the last time I met my mother was 3 months ago. Today's event was noted via text message.

"I was wondering. Why are some of my cousins and relatives here? It's only Chuseok. Hoshi and I aren't even engaged. It's not to hint at us to get married and have children quickly, is it?" I curiously asked, raising an eyebrow.

"N-no, of course not. We just thought that we should perhaps get our families to meet since you two have been together for a painstakingly long time," she stuttered and shook her head.

She waved her hands in front of her to try to convince me. I smiled and pretended to buy her lie. She had been throwing hints at me recently, including sending pictures of wedding gowns and claiming it was "for her friend". She and Hoshi's mother had been close for some time. They would chat on the phone on days they were lonely or bored. I did not know what they talk about but I had a feeling marriage was amongst one of the topics of discussion.

Soon we all sat down at the table. I sat next to Hoshi who was now more relaxed. However, whenever a relative came by to talk to him or me, he would tense up. Somehow, most of Hoshi's relatives spoke to me and most of my relatives spoke to Hoshi. My relatives who talked to me definitely had something to say about my relationship. Both good and bad but mostly good. I was a little suspicious as to the aim of the event.

When the food was served, we took our places and I admired the dish in front of me. I picked up the utensils and started to eat. The first bite gave an extraordinary impression. I kept eating bite after bite, taking in all the flavours. The food was good. I was too busy savouring the food to the point I ignored Hoshi.

"Yah! Crystal! Why are you giving more attention to the food? I'll steal your food if you keep ignoring me," he warned, crossing his arms.

I looked up from my plate and swallowed the piece of steak that I was chewing.

"Well, you would ignore me if you came across a dance video. Especially if the dancer was a girl," I rolled my eyes.

"She really dances well. You're just jealous," he retorted

"Well this food tastes well too. You're just jealous," I used his words against him.

We started intimidating each other and made weird faces at each other. While we were doing so, the table erupted into laughter.

"Hahaha. You guys are adults already yet you still act like kids," my mother giggled.

"They fight like a married couple too," Hoshi's mother added

The others nodded their heads in agreement. Gosh. Another hint.

2 hours later~

The room was almost cleared as the people streamed out. Hoshi told me to wait outside as he had something to discuss with his parents. Probably about his job. I headed out first with no questions asked and talked more with my mother.

About 10 minutes later, he emerged from the wide, tall doorway with a small smile on his face. His parents exited the room with him too. They offered to give us a ride home and we eventually accepted after some prompts. My mother was going home with my relatives and she gave me a hug before leaving. I sat in the backseat with Hoshi. I noticed he was tense and took some deep breaths. I held his hand and he reassured me he was fine.

When we got home, I exited the car first, thanking his parents and went up to the house first. I did not know what happened in the car but Hoshi took some time before he got out of the car. He was hiding something. For sure.
