So today is Nigeria's Independence Day, if you know me personally, you probably also know that I make jokes about my country like on a daily basis but honestly I love my country so much. Nigerian culture, dance, food, the people themselves are lit asf.
Right now, celebration for our national day has been clouded over by our recent economic recession; corruption in the government; and generally, lots of people being unsatisfied with our President because they feel as though he isn't really doing much for the country. But like I feel, that no matter what, we should take this one day out of the year to celebrate our country.
Okay so I'm going to like talk about some things that I love about Nigeria and also some main facts about the country.
MUSIC
We have created legends such as Fela, D'banj (although his music is dead asf now but anyways 🐸☕️), etc.
Nigerian music is lit and I think a majority of Nigerians love our music. At the moment, some of my favorite artists include Yemi Alade; Olamide; Wizkid; Patoranking; Davido; Don Jazzy; Tiwa Savage; and more. I have loads more hut for some reason they're not coming to mind idek.
FASHION
Honestly, I don't care what you think. Nigerian attire is so amazing. Like a nicely worn iro and buba is my entire life (iro and buba is basically a blouse with a wrapper tied around your waist, occasionally worn with a gele which is basically a headscarf). Okay so I'll show some examples.
