"How do you know me?" I inquired, suspicious.
Andy looked at me shocked, a flash of hurt crossing his eyes. Danny just stood there looking from Andy to me, looking as bewildered as ever.
"We've been best friends since sixth grade. We dated for a while back in high school. We were in love...." he trailed off. "Until I left anyway." I heard him say under his breath.
I just stared at him, uncomprehending. Realization became evident on Danny's face. He opened his mouth and closed it again. As if unsure of what to say. But finally, he spoke.
"Andy... Julia was in a car crash after you left. She doesn't remember anything before the crash. She has no memories. So that means..." Danny explained, choosing his words carefully.
"She doesn't remember me. " Andy finished.
"Andy, I'm so sorry. I wish I could remember but I can't. It kills me. Especially because I can't remember someone as seemingly amazing as you." I told him.
He walked over to me and pulled me into a hug holding me close. Something inside my head clicked. But as soon as the feeling came, it was gone. I frowned into Andy's chest.
"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. I just wish you'd remember. Maybe we could have picked up where we left off, you know?" he said, his face against my hair.
"But since I don't remember, maybe we can start over?"
