Since Mrs. Carson was home sick on the last day before Winter break, we practically had a free period since there really wasn’t anything we could do without her. She got Ethan to watch the class this period, which all the girls loved.

I could see him glance at me every now and then, and I couldn’t help but feel a little special. Of course, I was his girlfriend, but it was still nice when he noticed me when he had tons of girls surrounding him.

“Are you a good dancer, Mr. Deveraux?” a girl would ask, and then the rest of them would giggle. “Do you want to dance with me?”

Ethan would smile charmingly and decline, but these girls even squealed at his rejection. I didn’t understand how they could act that way.

I wanted to tell them that he was a good dancer, but I knew that I couldn’t. No one could knew that Ethan had been the one that had danced with me the night of the dance show, because I was sure that would raise questions. So I had to stay quiet.

Maxxon and Bennett were doing something on stage. I wasn’t sure if they were goofing off or dancing, but that didn’t matter much to me. All I noticed was that they continued to look over at me as they talked to each other.

I could see Katarina watching Maxxon out of the corner of my eye. I felt bad for her, but then I immediately remembered her brother and how he had asked me to tell the girl sitting beside me in the audience how much he liked her.

I didn’t really want to talk to her about it. I hated being the middleman. But since I appeared to be close to Maxxon and Freya was my best friend, Katarina and Justin had both came to me for help.

“So, Freya,” I started, sounding absolutely ridiculous. “I know someone who likes you.”

I felt like I was back in middle school, but there wasn’t really any other way I could say it, so there was no turning back now.

“Really?” Freya asked, her eyes going wide. She looked like a child on Christmas morning. “Who? Who is it?”

“Justin,” I answered, deciding to not beat around the bush. “Justin Quinn, Katarina’s twin brother.

Freya’s smile immediately deteriorated. “Oh…”

I couldn’t help but feel bad for Justin, since this was obviously not the kind of reaction you wanted when someone found out that you liked them. I just wished Freya had been a little nicer about it, even if Justin wasn’t around.

“I don’t like Justin,” she shrugged, and I frowned. “I mean, he’s cute, but I like someone else. I was hoping you would say that it was them instead.”

I let out a sigh, feeling bad for Justin. He really liked Freya as I was sure the guy she liked was someone who didn’t even give her the kind of day, like usual. The only guy she had ever had a crush on that we were actually friends with was Maxxon, and I really hoped that she wasn’t about to say him.

“Who do you like?” I asked, since she brought it up so I would question her about it.

She giggled. “Ethan.”

I blinked at her. “Ethan?” I didn’t know an Ethan in our grade. “What grade is he in?”

She giggled again and answered, “He’s not in high school.”

It was then I realized what she was talking about. I wasn’t aware that anyone called Ethan by his first name but me. “Mr. Deveraux?” I practically squawked, but then bit down on my lip when I remembered that he was actually in the room with us. And he had heard me.

I would have much rather her say that it was Maxxon.

Ethan excused himself from the group of girls, who did not look very happy at all, and he made his way over to us. Freya looked absolutely overjoyed and I thought I was going to throw up.
