Chapter 40: The Day I Didn't Want Happening

"Hey babe. Do you want a ride home?" Ryder asks and I shake my head.

"I've got somewhere to be. I'll see you tomorrow," I said and I kiss him goodbye.

I need to hurry if I want to make it there in time.

I hop into Kurt's car.

"Where are we going?" He asks.

"To the Hollywood sign and get there fast. I don't want anyone following," I said and we drive off. I get a box from the backseat and I stare at it. I open it and I take out the container that has my mother's ashes in.

"Is that your mother?" Kurt said as he keeps his eyes on the road.

"Yeah. She always wanted to see the Hollywood sign, but she never got the chance because she was in Hospital for ages," I said and I wipe away a tear. Kurt stops. I look out in front of me and I see the sign. I take a deep breath. I exit the car and I walk up to the sign. Kurt follows. "This is incredible," I said as I look at the huge 'H' for Hollywood. Kurt nods. I take a deep breath and Kurt hugs me from the side. I smile at him. "Wait. I want to sing a song before I do this. You know, to say goodbye to her. Can you join in with me? You know, when you figure out what song it is?" He nods and I smile at him again.

Emily-Grace:

I can honestly say you've been on my mind

Since I woke up today, up today

I look at your photograph all the time

These memories come back to life

And I don't mind

Kurt:

I remember when we kissed

I still feel it on my lips

With no music playing

But I remember those simple things

But the one thing I wish I'd forget

The memory I wanna forget

Is goodbye

Before I could start the next verse, someone else starts to sing it. I turn around and I see Jake singing and he has the rest of Glee Club following behind him.

Jake:

I woke up this morning and played our song

And throwing my tears, I sang along

I picked up the phone and then put it down

'Cause I know I'm wasting my time

And I don't mind

Jake stands next to me and hugs me. I smile up at him.

Emily-Grace:

I remember when we kissed
