I don't know how I got home last night. I hardly remember anything, really. So when I woke up with a pounding headache and an urge to vomit like my life depended on it, Rebekah was the last person I wanted to see. I didn't really see her, actually. My vision was impaired, black spots overwhelming me as I wavered down the hall. I let out a deafening cry when my head collided with the wall, my back pressed against it. 'Didn't think you'd get away that easily, did you?' Her English accent was prominent as she spoke, her words accompanied by a trace of venom. At that moment, I wished it were anybody else. Damon, Elena, Alaric... Hell, even Stefan would suffice! Just not Rebekah. I was sure this was going to be the death of me.

Her nails dug into my skin, and I felt a warm trickle of blood course down my arms. I didn't struggle, I knew it would be useless. But that seemed to irk Rebekah. She dragged her nails further down my arm. It took me all my strength not to scream at the pain. My right cheek flattened against the wall as I tried to keep my face away from hers. She forced me to look at her, and I could feel panic surging into every part of my body. She had a paler complexion, and her eyes were blood red with small veins protruding around the area. Her canines were lengthened to fangs, ready to bite any minute. She held my stare for some time. She didn't bite, she didn't move, she didn't do anything. I got tired of the suspense.

'Why don't you just kill me, already? I bet you're dying to rip me apart,' I said maliciously.

Rebekah continued to gaze at me, deep in thought. 'Why aren't you afraid of me?' I stay silent without breaking eye contact. 'You should be begging for your life. You should be struggling and screaming and pleading for your life!' She got angrier, her tone rising until it was a shrill cry.

'What's the point?' I croaked emotionlessly. 'You're gonna kill me anyway.'

She tightened her grip on my arms, her claw-like nails delving deeper into my skin. I couldn't help but yell in agony. 'So you're just gonna let me take away your life? Just like that?' I remained impassive. 'You're basically giving up the chance to live a long, happy life with the people you love? You're giving away the chance to love?' Her voice had sunk to a whisper when she'd reached the last word. I snorted.

'I don't believe in love.' That seemed to catch her off guard. I felt my whole body going numb. I'd reached that state of such severe pain that I no longer felt it. She narrowed her eyes, but never made an actual attempt to kill me. I quickly stopped a smirk from emerging on my face. 'You're not gonna kill me.' A disbelieving look instantly crossed her face, which I dismissed with a stony laugh. 'You would've done it by now.'

The veins beneath her eyes darkened, if that was even possible. Her chest rose faster as her breathing grew irregular. She bared her teeth, and I prepared myself for the pain. I squeezed my eyes shut and waited for her fangs to pierce into my neck.

But they never did.

I slowly opened my eyes, only to find that she was gone. I released a breath I realized I was holding. My fingers touched my neck, just to make sure. Then they lowered to my arms. I looked at my hands, covered in blood, which continued to gush out of my arms. My eyelids started to grow heavy as my knees buckled and I slid to the floor. Then it all went black.

‘Miracle?’ A soft feminine voice slowly brought me back to consciousness. She sounded so distant. My eyes fluttered open to glimpse the source of the voice. Caroline stood over me, concern etched on her pretty features. I winced. What happened? Then I remembered. RightBarbarian Barbie happened. I let out a moan, causing Caroline to heave a sigh of relief and look behind her. ‘She’s awake,’ she informed the figure standing, who was tapping their feet with worry. She stepped closer and I realized it was Bonnie. She knelt down next to Caroline. I didn’t like the fact that I was in such a vulnerable state with those two watching. I looked around. I lay in a coagulated pool of my own blood. The metallic smell reached my nostrils, and I gasped, struggling to get to my feet but failing, as if an invisible force kept pushing me down. Bonnie and Caroline tried to calm me down, telling me I lost too much blood. Indeed, I felt considerably weaker.
