(Recap)

Then it clicked… What Rubin had said in the forest the day the hellhounds attacked us.

“I made him.”

“No.” I said in a whisper and started shaking my head in disbelief. Hunter was by my side in no time. He was holding me by my shoulders, a good thing he was because I felt my legs give out.

“What is it sunshine? What’s wrong?”

I looked at him, the pain bursting through my chest to clog my throat, but I spoke around the ball forming in my throat.

“They’re going to turn him into a hellhound.”

Chapter 21

Hunter’s POV

“What do you mean they’re going to turn him into a hellhound?”

She was trembling against me, I could feel her struggling with her emotions. She started speaking to herself. Almost like she was trying to rationalize it out, make sense of it all.

“He said they made him, I didn’t understand what he meant but after seeing that video, after hearing Wilde say he’ll send over Hunter wolves. It just clicked.”

“Who said that? Who’s he Emmaline?”

She was barely focusing on anyone, just ranting.

“Rubin, he told me he made them. I didn’t understand… I didn’t understand.”

“Rubin? As in the Rogue that belongs to Broderick? When did you talk to him?”

“After the hellhound attack, once I chased down the hound he stopped next to Rubin. It was obvious he was controlling the creature. I asked him where he got it from and he said he made it. If I knew back then…”

She trailed off, not able to say the rest. I on the other hand didn’t miss the fact that she not only ran after a hellhound on her own, but confronted a dangerous rogue. I can’t even bring myself to think of what could have happened to her, how easily I could have lost her. Squeezing her closer to me, and inhaling her scent deep into my lungs; I closed my eyes for a moment to calm myself before opening them again.

“We can still get him back before those rejects try to turn him.” Snow said wiggling free of my grip and started trekking towards the door.

“Where are you going? You are not going to go after your brother alone. Let’s get back to the pack and get back up.”

“I can’t wait Hunter. They’re going to turn him, every second counts, he’s been missing for three possibly four days now.”

“We can’t take out the rogues and the hellhounds, we need back up.”

“I agree with Hunter on this one Snow. You can’t go alone and unprepared, we are stronger in numbers than as an individual. If you go alone you would only end up getting caught or worst, killed.” Rose said while Nick, Cole and Ryan nodded their agreement.

“But we can’t sit around waiting, we need to act soon.”

“Then lets go to my father and get re-enforcements.”
