Normal P.O.V

As weeks turned to months, Hiccup and Astrid weren't the only two on Berk preparing to leave. Children and women who were unable to fight, packed their belongings and said goodbye to loved ones that were forced to stay. Boat, by boat. One, by one. The numbers of Berk decreased greatly but that didn't stop a ruckus from being made. Gobber worked effortlessly bending, shaping, forging and sharpening weapons and defences for the upcoming battle.
The men and woman left on the island began a back breaking and bone bending training. The news of Avlin's planned attack was refused to be taken lightly by any Viking.
Valka too, worked effortlessly beside her citizens and played a key role in preparing Berk for a long and enduring battle to come. Stoick on the other hand remained separated from his beloved village. He worked days and night sending out messages and setting up meetings with every allied clan and others he hoped would be willing to assist Berk in the future. Their soldiers were few and recruitments would be necessary.
As the commotion continued for months on end, Astrid remained locked up in the tower of Gothy's house. Assisting in Hiccup's recovery. Cleaning and redressing his wounds was her job while Gothy herself worked on treating the more severe injuries and consistently remaking the medicine. As time had grown longer, Hiccup had been healing at a rapid speed resulting in Gothy informing Astrid that it would only be a matter of time before he was well enough for travel. Between the whole village only Valka, Stoick and Gothy knew of the plans for Astrid and Hiccup's leave. Thinking about it still stung harshly in her heart. Hiccup had remained neutral at the piece of information. Because of it, Gothy had left the two alone in her house the night she had been told, on Valka's orders and Astrid couldn't have been more happy.

*******
The night was clear as the stars shone like hundreds of tiny candles alongside the broken moon. A breeze brushed quietly over the outside exterior of Gothy's hut. Her gold hair hung heavily on her shoulders as Astrid watched over Hiccup while he slept soundly. Her hands were clasped together tightly in her lap while the rays of moonlight seeped through the windows causing the tears at the brim of her blue eyes to sparkle like diamonds. They had remained dormant while Hiccup had laid awake but once his breathing had evened out and he finally relaxed in the bed, everything began to pushed through all her barriers. No matter how many times she tried to convince herself that it was a stupid situation to cry over.
Before Astrid could stop them, her hands cupped over her eyes to capture the salty tears beginning to slip down her freckled cheeks. Only in that moment did all her emotions come crashing down on her chest.
Heavy sobs echoed in the silent hut. Not a sound was left to mask them. With her face already buried in the warmth of her palms, Astrid leaned her elbows against her knees. Her shoulders shook and her golden locks draped like silky curtains by the side of her head. She couldn't leave Berk. Not just because it was her home but because it was more then that. It was the only place that housed all the memories of both her and her parents. It was the only place she knew growing up. From the time when she took her first steps to the first time she learnt how to fight. Berk wasn't her home.
It was her world.
"And it always will be," a hushed tone intercepted.
Hiccup sitting up in bed with a small smile was the first thing Astrid saw when she pulled her head away from her hands which remained frozen in midair. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and leaned forwards, extending a hand in her direction. Although his movements were stiff and hesitant, when his finger brushed against her cheek, it was like being touched by a butterflies wing. Astrid watched for a moment more while Hiccup pulled his hand away before she noticed the single glistening tear resting on the tip of his outstretched finger. Quickly she rubbed at her eyes and tried to sniffle her sobs. The bed groaned with pleasure as a weight lifted from it. His hands wrapped themselves around her wrist forcing them from her face. Returning Astrid's hands to her lap Hiccup released one wrist and slowly cupped the back of her head. Like a child. He gently pushed her head forwards until they were leaning against one another's foreheads. His eyes illuminated the world around them and yet blocked it at the same time.

"Don't," he breathed. "There's no reason yo wipe them away. You're allowed to cry Astrid, it's ok...it's ok."

"I-," she hesitated looking away from his eyes. "I don't w-want to leave, Berk's all I know. Sometimes I think it's all I am. All I've ever done in my life was for Berk, not for me or my family."

Hiccup closed his eyes to allow her a sense of privacy.

"Therefore you are allowed to cry...leaving a place you've known all your life is difficult and I'd think you crazy if you didn't shed even a tear, but Astrid," his voice turned firm capturing her attention properly. His eyes opened and they glimmered in the moons light with some frame of determination. "Berk is not all you are, Berk helped make you how you are but it is not you. Right from the start you decide who influences your life and who does not but from there you are the only one in control of your decisions, beliefs and personality. Berk cannot create the image of yourself that's more then what people see on the island.

And from where I'm sitting, I see a girl who's neither strong nor fearful. I see a girl who's afraid of more then she's willing to admit. She's afraid of holding back her voice and opinions in any situation, she's afraid of being held back on the sidelines in a battle, she's afraid of being thought as useless in situations she's more then capable of handling. I see a girl, who's terrified of leaving a place she's known since birth, in fear of losing everything she knows herself to be. And that's ok, to be more afraid then brave, to put yourself forwards in front of others to remind them that you are strong. But what's not ok is thinking your life evolves around Berk because it does not. You've made yourself as strong as you can on this island but there are more adventure beyond this world."

Hiccup paused for a moment and cupped her cheek in his palm.

"And if you'll allow me Astrid Hofferson, I want to be the one to take you on more adventures then either of us can imagine so that together we can grow stronger and find more of who we are."

Finally he had finished. His pulse fluttered in his veins as Hiccup had never had a way with words to comfort others. Astrid pulled away and smiled at him. Tears dripping down her face like the ocean trapped in her glistening eyes had finally broken free. She pressed a kiss on his cheek and pulled back once more.

"You really suck at speeches," she laughed in amongst the tears.

Hiccup rubbed the back of his neck, cheeks blushing.

"I-I've never been to good with comforting other people," he admited lamely.

Astrid shook her head slowly, "Doesn't matter, because it was you."
