Tucking his kids into bed for the night, Rodrigo couldn't help but smile thinking about what was happening right now; he didn't know what the future might hold but he couldn't help but hope for the best.

The election was in progress right now and the votes were being carefully counted with the next Monarch being announced in the morning; it had been a long day and Rodrigo was just happy that it was nearly over.

Everything felt so different now and Rodrigo knew that the people would have chosen the right person for them; he just hoped that no one would come to regret their decision.

Carefully getting to his feet, Rodrigo quietly left Catherine's bedroom so that she could get some sleep; whatever happened it was going to be a busy day even if he didn't win the election and become the next King of Aulea.

Louisa was sitting on the couch watching the election night news, the votes were continued in private and there wouldn't be an official announcement until the results were done.

However, that didn't stop people from talking about it all night, they were talking about what it would be like for each of the royals if they were elected the next Monarch.

People seemed to have their favourites and Louisa could only imagine what everyone was thinking right now; she had always thought that she would be Queen and now even that wasn't certain.

It made Louisa even more relieved that she had married for love and not for titles, she hadn't been a popular choice of wife for Rodrigo and she hadn't cared before.

Rodrigo sat down next to Louisa and wrapped his arm around her, he couldn't imagine what would come for the next but he was glad that he had her by his side.

"Are you sure that no one knows it was you?" Matias asked looking towards his wife while he paced the living room while the news played in the background; he was worried that someone might have worked out that Florencia had been behind the poisoning.

If anyone was to discover the truth that it would completely end his chances of becoming the next King and that wasn't something that Matias wanted.

It was nearly midnight and he was determined to be prepared for the moment that the Prime Minister arrived and announced that he was the new King.

Florencia rolled her eyes and nodded her head, it had been weeks since the poisoning and Briana was safely home from the hospital now with no one focusing on the poisoning anymore.

"Positive," Florencia replied peeking towards the television, her parents had wanted to come and stay with them so that they could be there when the news came that they would be King and Queen.

It was no secret that her father would love to be known as the Queen's father, it would boost his political career even more than it already had; not only that but he had plans to make sure that Matias and Florencia went down in history.

Getting up from her seat, Florencia walked over to Matias and wrapped her arms around; she kissed him softly knowing that she couldn't have found a better man.

It was all down to her father that she was in this position now and Florencia wasn't going to waste it; she was going to fight for what was hers.

"Just think... we will be the last King and Queen of Aulea, we will go down in history," Florencia whispered, she would abolish the monarchy if they were elected and their names would be remembered forever.

"How are you feeling?" Lionel asked looking at Briana, he was relieved that she was home and had been given the all clear to return home; the last month had been rather tense before the election had arrived.

There was a movie playing on the television and the couple were content in watching the movie instead of the election news; they could care less about what the journalists had to say about all of this.

"We are fine," Briana said with a smile, she still couldn't believe that they were expecting twins right now; they hadn't told anyone else about it yet.

She was twenty-one weeks pregnant and she hoped that things would continue to work for them as they moved forward; Lionel had been nothing short of amazing since she had come home.

Letting out a breath, Lionel leant back on the couch and watched the television for a moment; everything would change tomorrow morning and he hoped that no one would try to disturb the peace that he and Briana had.

Lionel had even considered a move to the countryside so that they could raise their children in peace; he wanted to protect them and give them a life where they didn't have to worry about anything.

"Have you thought about names?" Briana asked curiously, she brushed her fingers gently against her bump knowing that while they were having twins they still had no idea on gender.

Lionel blinked looking at her, he hadn't put much thought into the idea of names since they had found out that they were expecting twins; there was no telling just what they might have.

However, they were drawing closer to their due date and Lionel wanted to be prepared for when the twins were born; he was a little nervous about becoming a father for the first time and what that would mean for them.

Walking away from her daughter, Queen Celia let out a breath knowing that it was only a matter of time before they were told that a decision had been made; she prayed that the people would make a good decision.

King Jorge was reading the paper as the sun began to rise, it was only a matter of time before the news broke and they would have to adjust to life as the former King and Queen.

Taking a seat beside her husband, Celia couldn't help but think about what would happen when the news broke; she was afraid that this would lead to a fight between her children.

Both Rodrigo and Matias were so sure that they would be the ones that would become King but neither of them had noticed how favoured their younger brother was.

There was a knock at the door that snapped Celia out of her thoughts, she blinked before turning to see a servant; she had a feeling that she knew what this was about.

"The Prime Minister is here," the servant announced before bowing and moving aside to allow the Prime Minister to enter, the man was carrying a case that looked rather important.

Setting down the newspaper, Jorge got to his feet and moved to greet the Prime Minister; he had been waiting for this moment all evening.

Prime Minister Luis Enrique bowed before moving to speak with the Former King and Queen, he had the news of who was the next King and Queen would be and he knew that it would please them.

There were so much that would have to happen today and the new Monarch was going to need whatever sleep that they had gotten before they gave a speech at Parliament.

Celia held her breath as she stared at the box, the answers lay inside to the biggest question on her mind and she wanted to be prepared for what came next.
