As she continued to look for him, the halls began to empty. The bell rang, and she was forced to go to class.

She walked down the hall to her math classroom, and quickly caught sight of him when she entered. With the rest of the class, he was standing at the front of the room, waiting for the teacher to assign desks.

The teacher pointed to two desks at the left side of the room. "Ophelia and Jay, these are your seats," she said. She continued with the rest of the class, somehow not hearing Ophelia's heart beat heavily like a hammer against cloth.

"Hi, Jay," she tried to say casually as she sat down.

"Hey," he replied. "How was your summer?"

"Pretty good, how was yours?"

"It was cool."

"Cool."

It's just like it was before, she thought.
