"So that's her," Patrick said.

"Yeah," Damon smiled.

"She seems cool. Even smarter than you said," he noted.

Patrick strolled down the hall casually, occasionally steering Damon, whose face was fixated on his phone. "Mhm." He grinned.

"She's texting you, isn't she," Patrick chuckled.

Damon's cheeks flushed crimson. "Maybe."

"And you keep saying you don't like her." His laughter echoed down the empty hallway.

"What?" Damon stammered. "I don't!"

"I swear to God, Damon, if you screw this up and you don't take a chance on her, I'll ask her out myself."

"What?" Although the comment was meant to tease, Damon looked frightened.

"Oh, I'm sorry— did you think you were the only one who noticed how rare it is to find a girl like that?" Patrick said. "She's smart, she's witty, she loves music, and she's gorgeous."

"How do you know all that?" Damon asked. "You've only met her once!"

" Well, she's all you talk about nowadays," he laughed.

"Shut up, she is not!"

"Okay, D, if you say so."
