After midterms, her class with Jay was finished. The class period she had once spent at his side was gone, and a bittersweet feeling caught in her throat as she passed that once-hallowed room.
She sat down in her new class and immediately hid herself in John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men and put earbuds in to show she wished to be left alone.
She did not speak when a boy sat down next to her— at least not until she was forced to.
