The Day I Met Her

7th March. People always say that there's a special day where your life will never be the same - good or bad. For me, it was that date. Everything that happened that day, I'll never forget.

It was another day at school. As usually, I was on my way out from school when I remembered that I had to return a book from the library. I might not care for my work such, but I do care about my books. Hey, in order to be an adventurer, you gotta know the past.

"Return the book, find a new book then head home." I said to myself. I'm not one for staying behind, especially at school. However, that plan went haywire, but looking back now, I'm glad it did.

Once I did return the book, The Voyage To A New World, I tried to find another book. I kept on looking at the time like it was the end of the world soon. I hate staying behind at least after 3, so I searched every self, but nothing. This is why I prefer buying the books.

Then my eyes caught someone.

She was sitting on one of the tables, working with quite a few books on the desk. She was wearing a collar shirt with jeans and canvas shoes. Her eyes was really focus on her work. She didn't look around, she didn't seem distracted. I've always asked myself why didn't I left. Why was I still staring at her?

I realised that time was going and my time limit was coming to an end. I stopped staring at her and resumed to my search for a book. Despite doing this, I couldn't help but still look at the girl from time to time. She must have been a new girl since I have never seen her around school before. Suddenly, I saw that she got up, packing up her stuff. Of course, I had to stop looking at her otherwise she would think I'm a creep.

It was 3:50 pm, meaning 'the end of the world' was coming to an end. I might as well just buy one, but it would mean I would have to convince Sully to borrow money. Ever since I had an incident with money, Sully had been very stingy on my allowance. Well, can't blame him. That's what I get.

"Hey, are you OK?" I quickly turned around quickly through the surprise of hearing a voice. That moment, I saw the girl up close. I could now see that she had blonde hair and hazel eyes.

"Um.. yeah, I'm fine. Why?" I found myself in an awkward situation. I wanted to run, but I didn't want to seem rude.

"Nothing. Just curious. You were wandering around the library." For her to say that made me confuse. She was looking at her work most of the time. How did she know what I was doing? I didn't question it, but I was really confuse.

"Oh, yeah. Just looking for a book."?

"Really? What kind?" I didn't know why she was interested in what I am doing.  I barely know her and she barely knows me. But whatever, I'll go with it.

"Adventure. But there isn't any here good enough for me."

"I see. Wait a minute." She went into her bag and pulled out a book and handed it to me.

"Here. You can borrow mine if you want." It was a book called The Mystery Of The Lost Treasure

I wanted to hand it back to her, but I couldn't help but take it since it was an adventure book and it was, surprisingly, a book I wanted for a while.

"Thanks. I...I really appreciate it."

She smiled. "No problem." She looked down at her watch. "I have to go now. It was nice meeting you..."

"Nathan. Nathan Drake."

"OK, Nathan. Elena Fisher. Anyway, see ya." And with that, she went. I thought that day, it would be the last time I would see her. But it certainly didn't know that wouldn't be. And I'm glad she wasn't because without her, I wouldn't be the person that I am ever.
