1. Ang Buhay at Pag-ibig ni Dr. Jose Rizal - a 1956 first ever film biographic hero portrayal of the life of Rizal, starring Eddie del Mar as José Rizal (who won FAMAS Awards 1957 for Best Actor), by the direction of Ramon Estella.

2. Rizal sa Dapitan - a 1997 life adaptation of the hero Rizal at his exile in Dapitan. Starring Albert Martinez as José Rizal, and Amanda Page as Josephine Bracken. Directed by Tikoy Aguiluz.

3. José Rizal - 1998, GMA Films released this box office film which it was the most expensive in the history of Filipino Cinema with a budget of P80 million. Starring Cesar Montano as José Rizal, directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. This was also an offical entry to the 1998 Metro Manila Film Festival and became universal movie out of the Philippines.

4. Bayaning 3rd World (3rd World Hero) - a 1999 critical study film that examines Rizal's heroism, particularly on his supposed retraction of his writings against the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines during the Spanish colonization period. Starring Joel Torre as José Rizal, directed by Mike de Leon.

5. Ilustrado - a 2014 Philippine epic docudrama about Rizal's life televised on GMA 7 which solely tagged as BayaniSerye with a total of 20 episodes and made a way to release its limited edition DVDs by GMA Records Home Video. Starring Jhiz Deocareza as batang Pepe and Alden Richards as teen-adult José Rizal (won as Best Drama Actor). The TV drama series won multiple local and international awards. Directed by King Mark Baco.
