As diverse as the world's nations and cultures are, there are some things every human being holds dear. Among these is love for country, the understanding of the importance of education, and the sacred belief that the youth are tomorrow's hope. These are Rizal's values espoused fervently in his works and life.
His ideals inspired world-renowned Russian sculptor Gregory Pototsky, most distinguished international artist, to honor Rizal with a piece of art that eloquently expresses a "flight to infinity" -- symbolic of Rizal's love for education and how it empowers the youth of the country he so loved.
Rizal fought for revolutionary change in an educational system that favored the wealthy. He focused on motivating the youth and creating in them a burning desire to cultivate their knowledge. Rizal believed that it was only through education that the Philippines could free itself from domination and find its place on the global stage.
