Chapter 7

Five minutes later Liam is in my face. "Ms. Riggs, follow me." He says. I do as he says and a few minutes later we end up at a metal door with a label reading "OFFICER LIAM STEELE". He presses a button and a scanner pops out. It scans his eyes, face and fingers. "Identity accepted. Welcome officer Liam Steele." A robotic voice says and automatically the door opens. "Fancy." I say as I enter. He grins and goes in after me. "So what's up? Friend problems? Missing me?" He asks, feeling cocky. I smile as I try to come up with a believable lie. "Well, it's a very long story..." I say, giving myself more time to come up with a lie. I stuff some mashed potatoes in my mouth for some more time.
"Go ahead, I got time." I sit in the chair in front of his desk and begin, "Well earlier I got mad at this guy and I threw an icicle at him. He made a dwarf that I smushed with my foot. So I was getting mad again and I didn't want to repeat actions. "That's a lie," he says a matter-of-factly, "well not all of it, I've been trained to detect lies," he continues. I sigh. "Well, I, rather not tell exactly what happened," I whisper.
"Come on Zoe, you can tell me anything,"he grins. "Fine, it's a guy? I like, kinda, he did something, uh, unexpected?" I stop- I can't keep going. His grin slowly faded and his expression was unreadable. "Huh,"He says. "Well, I guess you can do whatever you want...even if I don't like it personally...keep going" I shake my head. "I don't like him, Liam, I like someone...else," I say sheepishly. "Wait, WHAT?!? WHO?!?" He yells as slams his hands on his metal desk and stands up. "You, ya silly solider" I cheer. He sighs in relief. "Good. You like me, good" he says almost as he was convincing himself more than me. I get up and thank him for letting me eat in his office." Bye Officer Steele!!!" I call as I go and leave him blushing.
