Chapter 35

Klaus’ POV

“Daughter.” The only words I had said after Amaia’s revelation. I can’t believe it as the words still not sinking into my head. I should be angry with Amaia but I couldn’t as my eyes gaze upon her. Yumi. She is staring back at me with her small dark brown eyes. It shows too many emotions right now. Then her eyes watered as she met mine.

“Father!” She instantly throws herself towards me after hesitating for a bit. I knew the moment I saw her, she is different; a way different as I had grown very fond of her which is not my usual. I can’t deny the fact that I was a bit snobbish and untrusting towards people. I had seen everything around me, the betrayal, fights and death. I really had a hard time to just get along with people that easily. Besides Amaia, she is the second person that my heart immediately trusted. Now, I know why. It’s because she has my flesh and blood. My very own daughter.

She hugs me so tightly with her small arms wrapped around me. I found myself taken a back but regained a smile as I hug her back. She is seventeen years old and nearly eighteen. I can’t help but regret not finding her before. I was sad because I didn’t have a chance of watching her grow; how she learn to walk, write her name on the paper, the very first word that comes out on her mouth as she learning to speak and maybe knowing her favorites. Those were the things I wish I can go back with her. I want to know everything about her. She is my only daughter; the only child I have.

“Your name is Yumi Shanaia, am I right?” I softly ask as we still hugging each other. I felt her head nodded.

“Yes.”

“Such a beautiful name.” I commented.

“They always said that.” She commented back.

“Because it is true.”  I said. “I’m so glad to have you as my daughter.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really.”

“I’m also glad that you become my father and Amaia as my mother.”  She said between sobs. “I’m so happy! I really am!” She blurted out happily.

“So am I.” I said while I touch her cheeks.

“I… I am really happy.” She mumbles but I can still hear it very clearly. “When I found out that I am just adopted, I feel empty. That I just popped out of nowhere; that I will be alone.”
