After a few seconds of trying, my eyes opened to a dark, poorly lit area, a wave of nausea and pain hit me, forcing me into a ball and pulling out a tube in the process. I could barely breathe. An alarm began to ring, gingerly I held my hands over my ears, drawing my attention to the masses of wires connected to me "make it stop." I murmured.

"Hey, Dimples, look at me." I turned over to see Dom, sitting beside me, he grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

I flinched, causing him to place my hand back on the spinal board.

My eyes began to squint, trying to work out if he was real, I reached up and touched the cross, feeling the cold metal against my skin. "You're really here?" I asked.

Dom nodded, "we came for you." He assured, glancing over at the noisy machines.

"It hurts." I mumbled, "can you make it stop?" I begged.

He nodded "okay... the doctor will give you something. It'll help you sleep. I promise it's gonna be okay now." Dom told me.

I nodded, I felt a needle prick my arm and I slipped away again.

Gagging, I woke up with a start, clawing at my throat as something was crushing my airways. Accompanied by a loud beeping, three doctors appeared in my vision. "Miss Toretto, I'm Doctor Jack McNeil, a surgeon at Brookes Army Medical Centre Department of Paediatrics, blink twice if you can understand me."

I blinked twice as a different doctor gently pushed me back into the pillows.

"Good, good. You aren't in any danger now, that strange horrible feeling in your throat is a respirator tube, I'm going to remove it but to make the process as quick as possible I'll need you to try and calm down a little first."

Nodding, I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before reopening them. Dr McNeil placed a cloth under my chin before carefully removing the tube, my throat burned slightly and I pointed to the bottle of water, which a nurse opened and handed to me.

"I just need to set up a nasal cannula," the doctor explained, looping the plastic tubing around my ears, I reached up and secured them in my my nose, feeling the rush of well needed oxygen.

"My family?" I questioned, my head was throbbing and my ears ringing, and I wasn't quite sure if I had imagined them or not.

"I think they went down to the canteen, we weren't sure when you would wake up." Dr Jack McNeil turned to the nurse who had given me water "do you mind going and finding Miss Toretto's family."

I felt pretty sore all over, no particular area of pain stood out more than the other "what happened?"

"I wanted to discuss what we done with you when your family was present."

I nodded.

Someone who I didn't recognise stepped into my room, they were wearing fatigue cammies and had a gun hanging around their torso. "Who are you? Get away from me!" I told them.
