You're the One Talking about Shells

It's 2 weeks till summer break and you still have to pick Leo or Percy for lifeguard duty at the country club.You wanted to immediately chose Leo but your dad said you had to give them both a 'fair chance.'

So thanks to your dad's just and fair standards,you are now sitting at the edge of the pool in the country club,waiting for Percy and Leo to arrive.

You swung your feet back and forth in the water and watched the time tick by on your phone screen.It was six thirty in the evening and both of those idiots were supposed to be here an hour ago.You would have left but Leo was supposed to be your ride home since your dad could only drop you off,due to a meeting.

After another twenty minutes had passed you heard the country club gates open and turned to see a very nervous looking Leo waking towards you and a bored looking Percy following.

You glared at Leo as he stood behind you and lightly chuckled.

"H-hey Y/n...."he said quietly.

"You know you're nearly two hours late?"You asked through clenched teeth.

"Im really sorry.We went to the mall and I kind of lost track of time."you watched Leo rub the back of his neck and you pulled your attention away from him and stood up.

"Whatever.Im canceling lessons anyway.Im cold and I want to go home."you stated,with a harsh tone clung to your voice.

"L-let me get you dinner then before I drop you off."Leo suggest and you shook your head.

"You've done enough for today.Take me home"was all you said as you walked towards his car.

You heard him sigh and Percy laugh to himself.

"You're so scared of her."you heard Percy tell Leo.

You were sort of concerned that Leo might have wet himself from how nervous around you he seemed.

Normally,you and Leo were always on good terms.But the rare occasions that he did something extremely stupid you'd always find a way to get him back.Last time he left you at the carnival one night and you had to walk home while it snowed,giving you the flue the next week.So in return you managed to go to his house and convince his mom that you were picking something up for him.What you ended up doing was gluing all of his school books to his bedroom ceiling.

So there was an uneasy tension filling the car and you could tell that the silence was slowly killing Percy.

"So,you're still coming to the party tomorrow right?"Percy asked,catching Leo's attention.

"Oh uh yeah of coarse."he replied but kept his gaze on the road.

"What about you,Rich Bitch,did you get an invite to Luke's party?"Percy turned in his seat to look at you.

"Yeah I did,but Im busy tomorrow."you said and Percy's face dropped from his smirk to confusion.

"Why not?Cant handle something fun?"he asked.

"No,cause I told Nico that I'd go watch a movie with him.He didnt want to go to the party."you said and Percy groaned.

"So what you're saying is you'd go if Nico went?"he asked.

You looked at him like he was stupid.Oh wait,he is.

"Thats not what I said."

"You said you wont go cause Nico doesnt want to.So if he did want to,you'd have no reason not to"

"Why do you care?"you asked,annoyed.

"Because..."he paused for moment,"Nico needs to get out more and so do you.You two are so stuck in your shells."

You shrugged,"So what?Atleast you arent in my shell."you said and Percy raised a pierced eyebrow.

"Can I be in your shell?"he asked and winked at you.

"Ew!"you shouted and covered your face with your hands,"You're so gross"

"You're the one talking about shells like you belong in the sea."

"You brought it up!"you yelled through your hands.

Percy laughed so hard he snorted,"Whatever.You're going to that party cause Im making sure Nico goes."

You sighed and just glared out the window,crossing your arms over your chest.

Nico texted you last night saying that since he owed Percy a favor,he had to cancel on you and go to the party.You told him it was fine and that you would just meet him there.

"Damn you Persues fucking Jackson"you muttered under your breathe as you stabbed a poor pancake.

"Who are you fucking"your dad asked from beside you.You turned to face him as he took a sip of his coffee and raised an eyebrow at you.

"N-no one dad.Im just complaining"you said,slightly embarrassed.

"I hope its just complaining.Im too young to have grandkids."He joked and nudged you in the side.

You shook your head at his childish comment and finished your breakfast,"Im going to go meet up with Leo."you said as you stood up and grabbed your bag.

Your dad nodded and gave you a small hug before he headed to his office.

You grabbed your phone and put on your shoes,before waiting outside for Leo.

A few minutes passed before an old rust-orange Ford Mustang pulled into your driveway.You got in the passenger side and glanced over at Leo.He smiled at you and you rolled your eyes.

"Im still mad at you."you said blandly.

"Come on,Y/n.Forgive me?"He asked and you shook your head.

He sighed and grabbed your hand,locking eye contact with you.

"Please Miss Y/L/N,"he kissed the back of your hand not breaking eye contact,"Ill buy you food for your forgiveness."

You laughed at his goofy behavior and pulled your hand away,patting his head.

"You know me too well,Valdez."you said and smiled at him.

"Momma says food is every girl's true love."he said with a small smirk.

"Shes not wrong"you added and with that you two were off.
