Remember When

Chapter 17

By the time Harry and Jackie get out of the doctors office their work day is over. Neither feeling like going home and cooking, decide to go to the cafe, they needed to tell Anne the good news anyway. When they walk in the door the first thing they both see is Harry's old highchair sitting next to the wall, looking at each other they smile.
Harry wraps his arm around Jackie's waist, walks her to the table everyone is sitting at, helps her takes her jacket off, he then takes his off and sits down so Jackie can. "Mom, don't you think you're jumping the gun a little by bringing that old thing here?" Harry asks as he points at the highchair.

Everyone turns their attention to the couple. "Not really, didn't you two just leave the doctors office? All you have to do is confirm what I already know." Anne smiles.

Jackie chuckles. "So sure of herself isn't she." She giggles as she snuggles into Harry's lap.

"She always is." Harry says kissing Jackie's forehead. "Well, in that case, mom, you better find Gem's old highchair also. One won't do." Harry and Jackie laugh as they see the look on everyone's face when they realize what he means by that statement.

"Oh my God, twins?" Anne asks just as Gemma and her husband, Colton, walks into the cafe and Anne runs around the table to hug the couple.

"Who's having twins?" Gemma asks as she walks up to the table, with husband in tow.

Anne straightens up, spins around, and pulls Gemma and Colton into a tight hug. "What are you two doing here? I thought you were waiting until next week to come home." She says.

"Well Colt has some time off, so we thought now would be a good time to do the dress shopping, together, instead of separately." Gemma says. "We do have a wedding soon don't we?"

Harry smiles. "Yes Gem we do. Hey, Colt how are you?" Harry asks his brother-in-law.

"I'm good. Jack, Gem told me you were home and more beautiful than ever." Colton says, leaning down to give her a hug. "So glad you're home, little sister. We all missed you so much." He whispers.

"Okay, now that that's out of the way. Will one of you kindly answer my question?" Gemma says. "Who the hell is having twins?"

"We are." Harry and Jackie says at the same time.

"No way!" Gemma laughs, then hugs her brother and Jackie again. "Oh this is amazing, Colt and I have some good new too, we're moving home." She says, then raises her hand before the noise can get to loud. "I'm not done, mom, congratulations, you've been bitching about grandkids for years. Well since Colt and I got married, I sure hope you're prepared for the four you're about to gain. I'm having twins also." Gemma smirks as Colton wraps his arms around his wife.

"Oh Gem." Jackie cries, jumping out of Harry's lap, hugging her.

Anne just stares at the two girls standing together with tears in her eyes. "Wow, you think she's about to pass out?" Harry asks.

"Good question." Colton says. "I was expecting a hug, or an "it's about time" but this has me worried, she's never been struck mute before."

Harry walks over to his mom, takes her arm and leads her to a chair, Louis jumps up to pull it out so he can sit her in it. Harry squats down, takes Anne's hands in his. "Mom? Are you okay?"

Anne blinks, looks down at Harry, then around at everyone looking at her. She then clears her throat. "You know, the happiest days of my life was giving birth to the two of you." Anne says holding Harry's hands to her chest as her tears roll from the corners of her eyes. "Then one day, when Harry was in pre-school, he comes home pulling this adorable little girl by the hand behind him through the door, right away I knew she would be someone special, especially when he said "mommy, this is my Jack, can we keep her?" they were inseparable after that, until she moved.
Then Gem finds Colt, you have no idea how badly I wished your father looked at me the way he looks at you, baby." Anne says, smiling down at Harry when she feels him wipe her tears away. "I always thought the love you two have is a once in a life time type of love, and anyone who got to witness it was lucky. Then our Jack comes home." Anne chokes out. "No offense, Gem and Colt, but seeing these two together, the way they look at each other, always having to be touching or near each other, restored my faith in love. To know the four of you are going to be parents and are going to pass that love on to your kids, now that makes me the happiest I've ever been in my life." Anne says as she runs her hand over the top of Harry's head like she used to when he was younger. "I just wish your dad wasn't such a dick, and could see what wonderful kids you two turned out to be." She says kissing Harry's cheek, then standing kissing Gemma, Jackie and Colton. Anne then makes her way around the table hugging all the others. "I love you all." She whispers.

"Love you too." The whole group says at the same time.

"Okay, no more tears, sit and eat. We have lots to talk about." Anne says. "With Harry and Jack getting married in a few weeks, and four babies to plan for, not to mention Liam and Dani's wedding, we're going to have a busy year."

Jackie sits back down in Harry's lap. "That's an understatement, we need to get my old office building remodeled also." Jackie says. "Harry and I have decided to keep my law office at the police station, makes sense for it to be there. Since I bought the old one we're going to turn it back into a house it used to be years ago, my friend Tonya is thinking about moving here. If we can get the remodeling done by then I'll rent or sale the place to her." Jackie says.

Colton smiles. "Sounds like we came home just in the nick of time. If you want I'll look at the place and you can tell me what you want done, with all of us working on it we should be able to get it done in no time."

"I was hoping you'd say that." Harry says as he takes the fork Jackie offers him and starts eating.
