"We should go on a proper date." Joe suddenly says as I am searching for the remote.

Four months have passed since the birthday party incident.

Joe's apprenticeship finished a couple of weeks ago and he has been busy trying to find a place here in the city. In the meantime he has been staying at the apartment with us.

This, of course, means that we spend a lot of time together but we never actually seem to go out much.

I shrug, "Sure. When?"

"Now." He simply replies.

I pout, "I thought we were going to watch the Goblet of Fire." I complain.

"We've already watched it three times in the last two weeks." He points out.

I frown, "That means I have to get dressed though."

Joe chuckles, "Come on, get out of your pyjamas."

I pout but do as he says. I know what today is but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

I also know he is trying to act nonchalant about it even though it's likely he already has plans. He may act like it's a last minute plan but Zoe has been throwing hints at me all week.

I am searching through the closet when Joe talks again.

"The red dress. The one from your party. You should wear that."

I don't bother arguing as I push my clothes aside, searching for the dress.

It's right near the back, I haven't even looked at it since that night. I never wanted to.

"It's a little fancy for Maccas isn't it?" I say as I still face the inside of my closet. A smirk sits upon my lips as I wait for his response.

I hear him chuckle, "You know we aren't going to McDonalds. Now hurry up and get dressed."

I quickly change from my pyjamas to the dress and slip on my favourite black heels.

I pull on a black blazer and when I finally turn back around to tell Joe I'm ready he isn't there.

He must've snuck off while I was distracted.

I pull my hair back into a ponytail and put on some eyeliner and mascara before calling it quits on the whole makeup thing. Joe doesn't really mind if I wear it or not. He insists I look fine without it but I don't know whether to believe him or not.

When I finally head out to the lounge I find that he has changed into something a bit more formal himself.

His t-shirt and shorts have been replaced by a shirt and dress pants. He's pulling on a jacket as I walk in and chatting quietly to Zoe.

"Wow. I forgot how much I love that dress on you." Joe says as he takes in my appearance.

"Thanks."

Joe chuckles, "Thanks." He mocks my accent like he used to all the time.

It's been ages since he's done that actually. He used to mock the way I thanked people all the time when we first met but it has occurred less and less over past months.

"Have fun!" Zoe says cheerily as we head out the door.

The restaurant turns out to be way too fancy for my liking. I used to go to places like this all the time with my parents when I was back home. I never really liked the tiny portions of French or Italian crap that they call a meal. I would much prefer a good, hearty burger any day. I'm almost positive Joe is the same but he is genuinely trying to make an effort so I go with it.
