2: Lily

I entered the school hallway as our whole conversation replays in my head.

Well, I'll see you around, Lily Taylor.

It was something about him, I didn't know what.

I walked past a group of girls, marveling over something in the middle of their little circle. I stopped to look at whatever it was, before continuing on and rolling my eyes as I did so.

Sierra Carling.

I walked briskly to my locker, and pulled out the things I needed for the first few periods.

Math...English...Social Studies...

After packing my history textbook in my backpack, my phone began to vibrate, causing me to pick it up.

I brought my phone to my ear, and plugging the other one so I could hear better.

"Hey Vi." I spoke loudly into the phone and waited for my best friend's response.

"Hey, Lil." I heard her, but she spoke as if her nose was clogged.

"Where are you? I've been looking for you." I said, picking up my backpack.

"I have a cough, and my mom's forcing me to stay home. I'm literally fine, I can take it." She scoffed, as I heard her cough in the background.

"Lucky bitch." I muttered under my breath, but loud enough so she could hear. I waited for her response, but I heard her mom in the background asking if Violet was in bed or something like that.

"I have to go." Violet whispered quickly. "Bye. Good luck in hell."

I hung up, before slipping my phone back into my pocket. The bell was about to ring, and I really didn't want to be late.

I kept my gaze averted from Sierra's group, who was still in the hallway even though it was clearing up. Although it was a good idea to prove her wrong, I needed to get to homeroom.

However, there was something that made me stop. I heard a familiar laugh, something I heard a few moments back. I looked up to see who it belonged to, just to make sure.

Coffee Shop Boy.

I had a sudden urge to go up to him, although I'd be late for homeroom. But, it felt like this moment, right here, was more important. It also seemed he was quite popular, although he was new.

No, it couldn't be.

I continued to walk past them, starting to regret my decision.

"Hey, Lily Taylor."

I turned back to see Coffee Shop Boy's smiling face. His face was now broken away from Sierra, who was telling some story about "irrelevant people." I could tell she was quite interested with Jacob. From what I could see, I caught every playful shove and batting of eyelashes; it was obvious she liked him.

"Coffee Shop Boy." I grinned.

"The name's Jacob."

I laughed. "I prefer Coffee Shop Boy."

"I knew I'd see you around." He said, as Sierra continued to tell her story.

"Yeah, I thought so to-"

"Um, Jacob?"

I turned to see Sierra, who glared at me, before whipping her head back to Jacob. Yeah, because Jacob is her territory.

Jacob's attention was back on her, as if I wasn't there. But after a few seconds, he turned to me quickly.

"Here's my number. Text sometime, or something." He handed me a slip of paper with his phone number. "See you around, alright?"

"See you around." I smiled, maybe too big and awkward to look at, but I still smiled.

I took out my phone again, entering his number in a new contact, then hit save when I was finished.

Coffee Shop Boy 💕☕️ has now been made a new contact.
