The dance was a complete blur as I walked in; the clump of dancing bodies and flowing dresses crowding what used to be the gym floor.

Our principal was (surprisingly) off to the side, and not dancing and embarrassing everyone. There were couples here and there in the back, away from the light, who were definitely...uh, getting at it.

Yay.

I took Brandon's hand and headed over; not to the dance floor, not to the back to make out, but to the snack table.

As much as I loved food, it wasn't for that reason. All Sierra's friends were there, including the one and only; Sierra Carling. I could see Emily already in the group, leaving behind Jacob. I looked behind me, seeing Jacob shrugging and talking to Violet, like Emily abandoning him was no big deal.

My eyes back to Sierra's group, I could see their malicious smiles and whispering; I knew something was up.

And it was not good.

And as soon as Emily flounced towards Jacob, taking his hand and sweet talking him, I raced towards him.

"Hey...Emily, can I just...borrow Jacob for a second?" I reluctantly asked her.

"Why? He's my date." She frowned, putting an emphasis on "my".

"This seems...suspicious, Emily. Is something up?" I retorted, smirking.

"Um...no...? Why would you ask that." She stammered, obviously trying to lie. "J-just...You can take him."

I took Jacob's hand and led him away from the girls.

"Listen, Jacob, those girls were obviously trying to do something." I said, trying to talk over the loud noise.

"What?"

"Jacob, seriously...I-"

I was cut off by Jacob leading me to an empty classroom.

"Sorry." He laughed. "I couldn't hear you."

"Jacob..." I started, staring into his confused face. "Those girls...they were trying to do something bad. Like really bad; I could tell. God, I don't know what I would do if Emily got in my way. You literally have no idea. All I know is that I had to get you as far away-"

I was cut off by pressing of lips against mine. I gasped; it was short but sweet.

"Lily...I've liked you; I always have." He smiled, making my heart melt. I didn't know what to do, but something flew into my mind at that very moment.

And that something made me do this.

I let go of his warm hand.

"Jacob, I have to go."

And I ran out of there.
