Chapter Sixteen

"What do you think about that? We heard you guys in his office,Are you the pack slut, is that why he wishes to protect you?"

"Maybe that's why you have a bounty on your head, someone didn't get their time?"

"I-I'm no slut!" I screamed out. The voices around me just reminding me of Jarl. The Alphas started to chuckle. I heard a low growling and I felt the presence of the Alphas back away from me. Sniffing the air it was Ryder but his scent was smelt more dirty? Like a wild animal. He must be in his wolf form. I yelped a bit and the Alphas in front of me growled.

"Alpha Ryder, we have discussed and decided that this rouge could use our protection, the only requirement being she come with us"

Their hearts slowed and I slid down the wall curling myself into a ball. Then a snap. Like a stick only it was the snap of a bone. One of them screamed and the other attacked. All I could hear was snarling and snapping of bones, mixed with the smell of blood. In fear I scrambled back into a corner and hearing crashes. Then two thumps. Bodies that hit the ground while the smell of the blood grew.

I stiffened only hearing their faint heartbeats. He did this. All by himself. Without a breathe. I felt my heart rate quicken as I heard low growling come closer. I backed up into the wall making me yelp and the wolf was standing in front of me. I felt it's breath on my face, blood.

It's breath had the smell on it. I was frozen.

"Dad! Dad!"

"Pumpkin you need to go! Go protect mommy! Daddy is gonna-" a wolf had jumped him, it's fangs clutching my dads neck, digging into it. I screamed and began to run.

I whimpered at the thought and I heard him shift. "Emerald" I felt his hand hesitantly touch mine making me pull back and scoot away from him.

"Emerald I'm sorry...I didn't mean any of that, at the office I didn't I-"

"Monster.."

"Monster.." her voice hit like a silver bullet. I looked back at the two injured Alphas and cursed under my breath.

"Emerald listen to me. I didn't mean anything in the office. I didn't I-" she was slowly rocking herself back an fourth.

"M-monster" her voice croaked. With my arm I wiped away the blood that dripped from my mouth. Her body was shaking. She seemed pale. Sweat was forming in her forehead.

"Emmy I'm not a monster let me-"

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" She screamed and stared to sob. My eyebrows knotted together. She's impossible. How the hell do I even.

Too late. Dane took over my body and he sat down next to her.

"Am I a monster to you?" She nodded and went away from his touch. "Then allow me to talk to Kya. I can help you" she seemed to be fighting with herself again and her head went up.

"Dane I'm scared" she whispered. Emeralds voice changing to be softer.

"It's okay to be afraid. I didn't like the way those men touched you and I have to protect what's mine" he growled a bit at the end. His hand had cupped her soft cheek and she leaned in at the touch now.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, I know everything seems scary especially when your in the dark. Allow me to be your light, your protector" he wrapped an arm around her and she put her head on his chest.

"I'm not afraid of not being able to see the enemy, I'm afraid of not being able to see past darkness" he kissed her forehead making her sigh in content.

I took over and she shifted. Probably sensing Dane gone.

"My human and I do not wish to speak to you" her voice croaked as she went out of my grip. She the scooted and leaned against the corner of the wall.

"Please just let me explain"

"Explain. I think Emeralds given you many chances. Your a monster. Simple as that."

She stood up at this point and started to walk stopping as her foot hit a body. The Alpha had groaned under her. She stiffened and her head drifted down.

"Just look at what you did Alpha Ryder. You have made Emerald and I see our past when we weren't supposed to. Your gonna have to do something to make up for it"

I clenched my teeth and she started to walk away.

"Any pointers?" She tilted her head towards me and I saw a tear sliding down her face.

"Just stay away from me" she then ran away.

"What did he do to you?" Rae asked as I walked into her room slamming the door.

"I don't wish to talk about it" I grumbled and found my way over to the bed where she seemed to be sitting.

"Come here" I felt her hand on my back and she embraced me. We stayed there for a bit and I laid back against the headboard.

"He's a monster..and he knows it.."
