I was thinking.....

When I was younger and signing up for different websites (kid-friendly, don't worry), I would usually lie about most of my information, y'know? I was a sensible little kid. A "20 y/o who lives in Antarctica and is named Kitty Katz". I would also choose the "other" option when it came to gender. My ignorant little self thought that that option was for people who didn't want to say what their gender was...

I feel a bit ashamed of how I didn't realize that there are people who aren't either male or female. Just like I'm ashamed of how I read a book in kindergarten about a kid with two fathers and thought they were just roommates who decided to raise a kid together. I obviously know a lot more now and have for a couple years. But it still makes me feel bad that I was never formally taught this and there aren't a whole lot of kids who were.
