The maze runner books and the hunger games books could exist in the same universe because the hunger games never tells you what is up with the rest of the world, and at the end of the maze runner books, they were likely sent to, like, Russia or somewhere really that's really cold today that would be mild after the sun flares. Plus the capitol took over after a while bunch of wars, starvation, and DISEASE.
