I WALK IN THE SHADOW OF ANGELS
I walk in the shadow of angels, they guide me in the faith
That tomorrow will be better than what has passed today
I see them in my periphery, such glorious light displays
I fear to face them directly, for my eyes would burn and fade
I live with the comfort of angels, they soothe my worries away
What I did to deserve this, I really cannot say
They whisper in the darkness, keep safe, beware, we’re here
I’m never alone when they’re near me, of harm I have no fear
My special spiritual angels, protect me from this world
I’m not mad Doctor, believe me, they’re talking to me now
Why can’t anyone hear them, am I the chosen one?
The Doctors say I hear voices, but they really must be dumb
I walk with angels daily, they’re not just in my head
The angels say I’m special, so I don’t need any meds
Now I’m alone with my angels, they sit dutifully beside my bed
They’re good company when I’m lonely, between tablets or when fed
The nurses smile benignly when I speak about the lights
But for some unthinkable reason
....Or so the angels tell me....
They keep saying, I'm crazy, and that it’s all just in my head.
