I STARTED A FIRE
I started a fire to heal my woes
To rid all the torment of which nobody knows
At first just a smoulder, then flicker to flame
I watched it aghast, unaware of the pain
As it burnt through my trainers and socks to my toes
A cacophony of colour tears through my clothes
Devouring the cloth and melting my skin
In the moonlight I dance, such a glorious sight
My body ablaze, decorated in fire
Consuming my madness in a melee of flames
Such rapture in psychosis as I sing out Hell's name
My witness to insanity are the demons within
To their ranks I am welcomed, burning in sin
I sink to the ground smouldering and charred
I lower my head to my raw, open chest
Each breath is a struggle and I want to give in
I’m blackened and worthless, I let madness win
Death I embrace as Hel'ls doors open and spin
The demons are smiling, we are at last face to face
I acknowledge their summons, and die without grace.
