ANGEL SIGH – a poem of grief and loss
I realise that you had to leave to be an angel in the sky
But this is just so hard to take, dear God, why, oh why?
Now you’ve gone and all I do is weep and wail and cry
The only part of you that’s left is memories in my mind’s eye
Life goes on, and so do I, and surely I’ll get by
But my poor heart has flown with you, forever to be tied
I’ll be strong, pretend I’m brave, for you I can but try
You are above, and God, I trust, will give you wings to fly
While sat upon your cloud, I pray, on me you’ll peep and spy
And if that’s so I promise you I’ll never say goodbye
Because I know when times are hard I’ll hear your angel sigh.
