I DANCED WITH THE DEVIL
I danced with the Devil beneath the moon on an eerie starlit night
He sang to me about his woes and how he longed for forgiveness
His voice was alchemy to my ears, and filled my mind with wonder
He revealed his face unto the moon while choirs of angels serenaded
It was a haunting melody, so sorrowful and heart-rending
He sang of remorse for his sins, and poignant yearning for his King
Such blatant beauty overcame and stole away all sense of me
I begged for him to take my soul, I’d sacrifice my life for his
To give him freedom from his hell, his punishment for defying Him
There’s men on earth who’ve done much worse, I’ve seen and heard it for myself
If God is good, he’ll turn his cheek, and let me take hells fire instead
He’s paid his dues, so God take me, such majesty deserves redemption
But still he sings unto the moon, while I writhe and moan in rapture
I watch entranced as flowing locks erupt and flow towards me
I am ensnared in glowing hair, and fire and brimstone lightning
Embraced within, I laugh and grin, his radiance overwhelms me
Such a being can’t be bad, he’s marvellous and resplendent
Perhaps I’m wrong, but to me he’s shown, he’s just sad and complicated
How can God have been so wrong, I weep with hysterical laughter?
My mind explodes to devilish tones, while in madness I’m captivated
Yet still we dance, and still he sings, tormented in the flames of sin, eternally ever after.
